Approaching first heat

I haven't. Could her "period" be that subtle?
Yes, for our dog's there is a certain amount of spotting, but that usually happens at the very beginning...the farther along the dog gets the lighter and harder it is to detect. I would do that and see if there is blood what shade it is...that will give you a good idea where she is in this...at their peak it usually becomes very very light, then goes away as they go out of heat...I will admit that once the dog is in heat, I just do it by habit and watching the dog (males too) to know what's going on.

Sumu period panties
Awesome ingenuity! Back in the '90's I let my Dobe go through one heat before spaying and did something like this. No cute panties back in those days, of if there was I didn't know about it. It'll be over before you know it.

I cut up an old pair of sweats from my daughter from when she was ~10 and the waistband is an excellent fit. The drawstring is perfect for securing the fabric strip that goes between her legs. I rotate a couple of strips that I rinse and dry a couple of times a day. It works very well and Tessa doesn't seem to mind wearing them. She sometimes runs off when she sees me getting ready to put them on her, but once they are on, she does not chew on them or try to pull them off. She is a really good sport.

She is still dribbling. It seems more watery than before. She has become very whiny and clingy - poor thing must be so confused! Fortunately, I have not seen any dogs around even though our whole house must be reeking of pheromones. I can smell it, it is so strong!
