Always keep learning

I went to an obedience seminar this weekend - it was offered for 3 days, but I could only do Friday & Saturday and got home last night. I have been so frustrated by self-training and online training and really aching for some in-real-time work. We had a ton of fun, Asha was awesome and I highly recommend the instructor Kellie Connell - she does both AKC obedience and IGP, so that fit us perfectly. I didn't start Asha right for focus heeling so we spent the two days learning how to help Asha (and ME) change our habits. Kellies main thing was tons of food & toys to make every step a drive for fun. Even at 6 years old a dog can learn how to re-think things and even if we never trial again, this is something that Asha loved so much that 15 minutes a day would be tons of fun and zero work. We were allowed to video for our own use, but asked not to share learning sessions with public audiences. Just wanted to say, I wish I'd had this kind of training 6 years ago!

Wow it looks like it was a great opportunity for both of you!
I wish our club would start holding the different workshops again but I think lack of help and having to rent space on a limited schedule put them on the back burner.

Just seeing this now....love it! So happy you had the opportunity! And I love to see it is 'never too late' to train a dog to rethink old habits. I had a great agility dog years ago, but had learned 'wrong' to start, and she would fly off the teeter, and the A frame. She was still a young dog when I took private lessons to retrain both of us. These dobermans are so forgiving too!
I am going to find the video of my first UKC trial and post - pretty entertaining now that time has passed :)

here is another example during an AKC trial
LOL - Gotta love it! - looks like when I did a little agility with Asha. She could not slow down, would spin around to look at me, would leap off of everything to try to make a short cut... she was just wild. I gave it up mainly because she slipped so bad on the artificial turf, almost doing splits a couple of times, I was afraid she was going to hurt herself. It's a beautiful professional field available to our local kennel club for use 2x month, but I had enough other things to work on.
