So Odin is almost 4 months old now! He's got all his shots done and is very healthy. I'm home with my parents for the next 2 weeks before headed back up to Lubbock for summer classes with him. Apparently another dog got Parvo while I've been gone in the dog park area of my apartment complex. Is...
Odin weighed in at 30 pounds today at 13 weeks. Starting to pack on the pounds fast!! can't wait till he hits his growth spurt and becomes all legs :D I'm thinking the big jump in weight had to do with him adjusting to TOTW fairly fast.
I'm in the process of switching my 12 week old dobe over to TOTW. I started him on the dry kibble right around 9 weeks old and he seemed fine with it. If he doesn't finish it all I'll take it away after about 10 minutes and won't feed him again till later. He learned pretty fast to eat it all in...
So I know I haven't been on in awhile, classes got busy and Odin didn't make it any easier. Here's his weight gain:
6 weeks: 6.5 lbs
9 weeks: 13.7 lbs
10 weeks: 19.5 lbs
@FirstTimeDober3 Welcome from Texas! I like you picked up my puppy too early at 7 weeks old. I have noticed mine is quite sleepy like yours but I'll walk him 3 times a day and play in between. Odin is only 10 lbs at 7 weeks. After he eats he always wants to nap so that might be normal for Atlas.
I only leave a large stuffed animal in the crate with him while he sleeps because he likes to cuddle with it. is that still a choking hazard? I've been redirecting him to pig ear slivers and his Kong when he gets mouthy at all.
Wow so night 3 in the crate. What a change, doesn't cry out unless he needs to potty and he knows when I take him out and say "go potty" that its time to go. Picking up on lots fast. Getting muuuuch better on the leash for walks and seems to be more confident not timid like before. Caught him...
Okay I'll try to walk him around outside next time and wait a little longer. I always say "lets go potty" when im carrying him to the spot. I can already tell that he's getting more curious and not as timid. Already trying to climb his way up the gates in the kitchen.
See he's not distracted he just sits next to me or in between my legs. I wait 10-15 minutes outside at the same spot as always. He'll get it eventually. Should I just reward with praise or with treats? I've just been making a big deal out of it verbally
So last night went better than expected. He fell asleep in my lap around 9pm and I put him in the crate and went to bed as well. No fuss unless he had to go to the bathroom which was expected. Now I'm taking him out to go potty and he won't go. But as soon as we get inside he pees or poops...
Oh I know this is gonna be a 8 month process at least. I take him out on a leash but when I take him out of the crate I carry him to the potty spot because I don't want any accidents on the way there!
@Lucian thanks that really helps! I'm just trying to figure out the let me out cries vs the I need to potty cries. So far he's had 2 accidents in the crate today and its hard for me to get him to go outside but im sure itll get better with time. I try to place him in the crate when he falls...
Alright so I've brought home Odin and he's a little young. Is afraid of going outside so it's hard for him to potty out there. All he wants is to be picked up or hide between my feet. Any advice on this?
I have the kitchen gated off but he screams when left alone for even a second. If he's not...
So he woke up and cried for a solid 3-4 hours. I couldn't stand it so after he stopped I took him out and he slept on my chest the rest of the night. Finally got him to go pee at 4am then full potty after I fed him at 8am. He'll be crated for a couple hours while I'm away for classes but I'm...
