He is 21 generations back on Ashas Tail Male
He is 17 generations back on Dietrich's Tail Male (Dietrich was my girl born in 1991)
I do remember when I'd first read about almost every single Doberman tracing back to Muck I also did the other male lines in Ashas pedigree and I think all but one...
You are correct, but this quote is especially true. As I've stated in several discussions, before my current dog I had no need for much correction at all with my previous 2 Dobes. They just fell into my life with no defiance whatsoever. They simply didn't ever misbehave. Neither pulled on a...
There is only one K9 ManhuntScotland, so probably the same. I've posted several of his words here on Doberman Chat, usually about obedience, not his scent work stuff. Great guy and trainer.
No, I'm not going... best of luck to those entered!
@BGpa said: PS anyone going to Nationals, or knows how to find clips posted online by show sponsor after on WAE? If I can't be there in person I like to learn something by watching videos.
I don't know about this shows WAE, but if you go...
Asha has never ever laid down on a slab of concrete unless told to. Grass, dirt, rug or bed, yes. No tile or concrete, even a wood floor is looked at with disdain.
If you haven't seen this thread, you can go back through the years with tons of puppies growth records. Most are by weight but a few are by height. And you can jump in with your puppy as well. Fun place to also see how very different these pups can be, and so many end up being "about the same"...
I saw this outline on being a leader and it says so much I thought it worthy of sharing here. Such turmoil in the training biz now with whatever set the pure positive thing against corrections or even saying "no", and wanting to be equals and best friends with your dog rather than "Pack Leader"...
There looks to be some really good podcasts on that site. I did see down the row that one had transcripts, perhaps they all do eventually, I don't know. Listening for an hour while doing mindless chores is easy for some but it's one thing my brain has trouble with, so I'm much happier reading...
I know that as a breeder your choices must weigh much heavier than my own. I only have to make decisions about what I want and go search for it. You have to work on actually creating and maintaining what you want since it's ever-evolving.
I am supportive and grateful for breeders who are truly...
That top photo, he looks a year old already LOL! I don't know about height for age, but they do tend to grow up quickly in height, then fill out. I only measured mine after I found out this easy-peasy trick - a zip tie just snug enough on a yard stick and use it like a horse measuring stick...
^^^ That's a very good article that explains a lot. I've been told that affected dogs just aren't dying like they use to and I only knew from my personal experience that "but they CAN". I do accept that severity is trending down and I embrace that. But for my own reasons I will forever be wary...
It was more serious years ago, true. Careful breeding to avoid affected dogs has resulted in much lower cases, and as @Jan and @Rits mentioned, many affected never bleed out or have problems in surgery. And as was mentioned in one of the spay discussions here, if you alert your veterinary clinic...
Without a test for DCM you don't know if you are breeding to one or not. So yes,
I did mention that in a previous comment here:
So to answer your question if choice is only two dogs that died and has frozen semen, perfect in every way for my vWD carrier bitch but one lived to 14 as vWD...
I mis-spoke here. carrier x carrier = 25% chance clear, 50% chance carrier and 25% affected. My apologies.
Also, I do NOT believe it is "un-ethical", especially due to the small gene pools, I do understand having to sacrifice "something" for every litter a breeder creates. There are no perfect...
I've heard @Rits describing the frustration of getting to a show, needing X number of dogs to be in the ring to get a major and somebody doesn't show up. You can show and win, but not enough dogs to get the Major points you need for a CH. It's a bit over my head but I feel the frustration on...
Yes, you as a breeder it's your decision and I respect that.
In my humble opinion, in the last 7 years of back in the Doberman world, watching the health deteriorating I personally hold health as the number one priority over every other single thing. Nothing looks better than a well put...
It's Elaine Starry on Facebook, if you look her up you could ask in her comments. I'm not the one to give permission.
That said, I copy/pasted it here, I don't think it's against any rules here or on Facebook - to me if it's a public post and not on a private group that you have to join, it's...
