Seems that way my sister in-law mentioned ridgeback but I have her pedigree and she is 100% Doberman but definitely has a little Mohawk going on back there. I figured it’s best to figure it out early on rather than a few months down the road.
I haven’t put her on the forum yet but 4 weeks ago the breeders that bred my dog Rubin called me and twisted my arm to take a puppy. At first I was reluctant to but they convinced me and I caved because it sounds like they are winding down and she very well could be from the last litter they...
Here’s a decent adage my mother in law didn’t like much cause her dogs are super lethargic eaters because she lets them take a joy ride eating mine get 10-15 minutes during the morning and evening and I feed them in their kennels. If I put food in with them and they lay down in the kennel I...
Haha isn’t it ridiculous at least he doesn’t roll in it I’ve had dogs do that before. He definitely has snuck in horse trimmings  it’s like he must hold it in his mouth until we get in the house and then I find him chewing on the trimmings later on.
Most annoying things my Dobie does is run out in the field and literally eat crap since we have cows and horses. The other thing that’s annoying is if I fall asleep in a reclining chair he will poke me with his nose in the side of the face to wake me up to play fetch .
Most endearing things he...
Crate training is awesome don’t be worried about it. It’s a process even with a 6 week old puppy. Like mentioned above try to wear him out first. And if you aren’t already feed him in the crate. In time they will actually learn to love their crate my dog will sleep in his even when I’m home and...
I’m currently working towards going raw and I currently feed Fromm gold and canidae was definitely one I looked into but I chose Fromm gold because it doesn’t contain peas. With that said Canidae was one of the best brands I looked into.
I assume that is the case with all meats not just poultry and I’m definitely SOL on anything local like that. But I’ll be buying restaurant grade meats as it and won’t be buying from the supermarkets. And I can get antibiotic free, grass fed beef etc.
I do have that resolved due to getting chicken from my brother in law cause he’s a food salesmen/ wholesaler I guess my question is with that is I can injection free poultry and I can get antibiotic free chicken breast for like a 1.10 a pound which is a bargain. But would you recommend...
I appreciate the input I received from all of you! And will keep you updated as I transition to a raw diet which I believe I will be ready for in couple of months.
I’ve been reading a lot about raw feeding trying to get all my ducks in a row before I completely jump in.I think I’m just nervous to screw things up or not hit the vitamins correctly. I think the hardest aspect is knowing exactly what to buy poultry is simple I can get chicken breast, chicken...
I do believe I have my resolution for meat solved my brother in-law is a sales rep for shamrock foods and can get me no injected chicken breast and chicken thighs for about 1.60 a pound average between the two and antibiotic free. But is it ok to rotate around between beef and chicken ?
So as long as the sodium is less than 100mg per serving you can use it ? And I know I’ve seen you recommend this in other threads but when raw feeding there’s a probiotic powder that’s of good use ?
When it comes to feeding and protein selections often times when looking at poultry products specifically at the store they are often treated with chicken broth which is salty. I haven’t purchased or fed any of these poultry products to my dog but I assume it’s not ok to serve this to your dog ?
As far as kibble is concerned for a puppy victor high energy formula is and all life stage kibble and is 4-5 star rated on dog food advisor it is grain inclusive while being free of corn wheat and soy . It also falls under 26% protein at 24% protein 20% fat which I’ve seen on the forum here and...
While I have fed Purina pro plan sport to decent results and it is nice to have a the flavor variety of chicken and salmon I will say that victor hi pro plus and 4 health performance are cheaper and don’t have corn or by product meal. Just fruit for thought.
Thank you both for your input. Who knew feeding dogs could be so complex haha. I kinda thought it was 1:1 for the ratio but if I don’t know for sure I will ask.
