Well that's too bad that the vet put him on that since it really isn't needed after a simple neuter. I would get a second opinion from another vet so you can stop giving him all of those meds.

And that is what drives me insane with the breed and some other breeds as well. GSDs are a good example and many of those dogs are unable to do what they were bred for and the temperaments are getting terrible.

I know it's a different venue, but our UKC club was approved for precision coursing and lure coursing this year and there is a show coming up in October that's about 45 minutes from here.

That's what I've heard about AKC being more accessible in states to our south but in MN and WI there are a ton more UKC shows. There used to only be one AKC show/year in the area but now there are a few more clubs who have started having shows. I don't know of any UDC shows within a few states...

I have been to the UDC nationals but never to the DPCA one since the host hotel is booked up nearly the second they open registration.

Elroy has no problem with it at shows or training but Olive thinks the chair I bring for myself is for her. LOL

I think there is a Doberman specialty in the spring near Cambridge that usually has it.

I would like to do that with Olive too since she is pretty rock solid on everything. Elroy is too but he's not a great traveler and I believe the nearest ones they have are at least 4 hours away.

You could also go for AKC Fit Dog since things like Fast Cat and other activities like personal hiking all count. My friend got it and worked up to gold with her IG since he loves Fast Cat and they take hikes all the time. There are also other things that count...

I agree with @Ddski5 . I've never used the cone at all and don't use pain meds at all after the first day. If he's bouncing off the walls, chances are he isn't in pain and the vets send the pain meds home with you as a just in case.

I actually think bears are pretty cool animals but people still have to realize they are opportunists and get into food or trash if they know it's accessible. There is a bear sanctuary a bit north of here and they are all wild bears coming and going but a lot of people started going to watch...

That is the most important thing with a dog or child for that matter. If they figure out that they will get their way if they fuss long enough it would keep making it harder to win.

I discussed this with our breeder and she said that even if a pup is affected, the chances of them being clinically affected is pretty low, but of course it is a chance you're taking. It's been posted before, here is a handy chart on breeding stats when taking vWD into consideration.
