I 'get' the liability thing but man, it just seems so stupid to me! Doesn't it? I'll tell you what, any one of these signs would be great for just putting you on notice that a DOG lives there. Regardless if he's a badazz or not, I like that I know first hand that there IS a dog there. No surprises.
So if all that is true, then what does this one say about liability?

I believe that one is a fine line that could be perceived in different ways, depending on the state or the people suing. The sign I posted above said "caution" at the top, but I cut that part off because of possible liability.
I even wonder about putting something as simple as "slippery when wet" sign on our front steps because it might be admitting liability, but they are slippery as can be so I don't want someone getting hurt. It's the asses who sue for everything who make the laws so ridiculous so you have a hard time letting people know to be careful at potentially dangerous stuff if they're unsuspecting.
There was a big court case around here not too long ago about someone who was getting sued because their dog (not a doberman) attacked an intruder. He had a "beware of dog" sign. The court said even thought the person jumped their fence and was trespassing on thier property his sign only said to "beware". So basically the wording of his signage help him lose his case and be help liable.
I personally think thats pretty screwed up that someone can jump your fence, tresspass, get attacked by your dog in which you have a sign up for, and then you can still get in trouble.
The court advised the gentleman to have a sign similar to the wording of "Gaurd dog on duty - DO NOT ENTER" and then if the same scenario occurs, or if the guy had that sign up instead on this instance, the person who tresspassed would be liable for themselves and the property owner clear of any responsibility for what happend.
I'm just bumping this up so we don't take ABC's thread too OT.
We have this one on our gate coming up the sidewalk and it's not a "beware of" one but still tells them we have Dobermans. Since that sign went up almost none of the delivery people will even open the gate so they either leave the package on the little table outside of the gate or honk their horn if a signature is required.

I have two of these, I like them to have, but I haven't hung them up because while it is true, I don't want to undo the reputation that my one girl has earned to be a therapy dog at the nursing home. 
I could see putting that one on the door coming in from our garage to the basement. If someone has come that far they are really trespassing already.
Now that you mention it, it might not be bad for my back porch door, or even inside the glass of my front door, for similar space reasons. Although anyone at the front door probably wouldn't take the time to read with the two bad bitches right there staring at them and making their presence known through the glass. Maybe I will dust them off and hang them up.
