    Thought she was a gonner

Good to know about toxic substances. One instance I had was the girl ate a bunch of memory foam (RIP mattress cover) - knew it was within the last hour as I was dumb and left her uncrated while I got groceries - but in that case I had both blockage concerns and I thought maybe the foam could be...

    Thought she was a gonner

It does not take much at all in my experience. I would just gently pour a bit down their gullet and wait. Maybe a few tablespoons to half a cup, if I were to guess. Obviously it's very unsettling to a dog's stomach (safe though) so I think reflex does most of the work. Not a vet though!

    Thought she was a gonner

Glad it worked out; I just came to second the peroxide method. I've induced vomiting with peroxide 3 times between two dogs and firmly believe it probably saved their lives or an expensive vet bill. I don't advocate doing it without discretion, but if you know they ate something that's big...

SSA female Doberman and female German Shepherd

They can. fwiw I've actually had to watch exactly the same two breeds for two weeks in the same house when they were both about 7 months old. It's perfectly manageable. But a word of caution, I would frankly just expect for the dobe to wind up being the dominant one of the two, so you will want...

Do prong collars cause Bumps on neck?

A flat collar rubs more than a prong. Prong sits high and snug on the neck. Depends where the bumps are. But short answer is no if used correctly.

    Dobermann advice

A dobe will definitely need more physical exercise than a lab. Walks won't tire out a young dobe either, frankly. Just plan on getting in an hour of something before your 9-5. Let them run. Some say don't let puppies run too much but I think natural running on grass is fine for any age. Flirt...

Is this just a busted toenail?

Update: did not end up taking her to the vet or clinic due to a number of circumstances, but the toenail has healed on it's own and is growing back just fine. Eventually I believe she actually chewed off the exposed nail that you can see in the last pic, so there was nothing protruding, just a...

Best products for flaky, dry, and patchy coat blue dobermans?

Also I don't ever bathe unless she was trampling through mud or something. Maybe 4 times a year. Dobes should stay pretty clean on their own and mine doesn't ever smell or anything. I'd avoid shampoo in general unless necessary.

Best products for flaky, dry, and patchy coat blue dobermans?

There is a site that a blue owner who showed the dog put up called "Storm's regiment" or something like that, which has tons of info on supplements. I have a two year old and her coat isn't too bad but anecdotally, I believe two eggs a day and occasional sardines seems to help keep her coat...

Is this just a busted toenail?

Hopefully getting her in to a clinic today as our regular vet doesn't have any openings until the 13th. The nail has come off now, but still not having a huge affect on her day-to-day activities. Thanks all for the replies... will update after I get her in.

Is this just a busted toenail?

She doesn't like it being touched at all - even nail trimming is a hazardous affair lol - she doesn't mind paws being handled but once any tool comes into play, that's a big NOPE for her. I do feel like I should probe it a bit and if possible remove the broken part. After looking at it more it's...

Is this just a busted toenail?

Blue is a 2 year old female, this is the rear left foot. Pretty sure the nail has lifted off and exposing the inside (don't know the technical term...), but it almost looks like a blister. Noticed it a day or two ago, it's clearly bothering her but honestly not slowing her down too much. No...

    Leg/bug/itch paranoia?

Blue will do it actually exclusively outside, never seen it in the house. Maybe once? Often right when we go out, it sets off. The boredom factor makes sense. Days I work she has some downtime during the day and gets most actual exercise in the evening/night. I do think sometimes it's...

    Leg/bug/itch paranoia?

I was concerned about joints due to her age; we LET her run or jump but don't encourage it per se, and I've always heard there are risks especially with bigger breeds. That said I don't perceive any issues with her hinds but I'm not really qualified to gauge lol. Normal gait imo.

    Leg/bug/itch paranoia?

Dang, would not have thought of this this in a million years lol - but it very well could be. Will have to pay attention to when and where she does it. Funny enough she literally has no response to the shock or vibrate from any ecollar....only the beep! Loosely related :)
