It does not take much at all in my experience. I would just gently pour a bit down their gullet and wait. Maybe a few tablespoons to half a cup, if I were to guess. Obviously it's very unsettling to a dog's stomach (safe though) so I think reflex does most of the work. Not a vet though!

Also I don't ever bathe unless she was trampling through mud or something. Maybe 4 times a year. Dobes should stay pretty clean on their own and mine doesn't ever smell or anything. I'd avoid shampoo in general unless necessary.

I was concerned about joints due to her age; we LET her run or jump but don't encourage it per se, and I've always heard there are risks especially with bigger breeds. That said I don't perceive any issues with her hinds but I'm not really qualified to gauge lol. Normal gait imo.
