My dog has a cat urine smell. Any ideas?

Not sure if I'm posting in the right thread, but I'll ask anyway. Sorry in advance.

I have had Seven since February up until a couple of weeks ago, he started to smell like cat urine. It boggles my mind. I thought he had brushed up against some bushes. I've done some research and the only thing I can come up with is that it is his diet. I haven't changed his diet at all. I'm feeding him the call of the wild fish brand and that's it. He's a Blue boy and I know they are more prone to allergies etc, If anyone has any information about the issues and or recommendations for changing his diet, I would greatly appreciate it.

Vet visit for sure but I know turmeric can give off a cat urine smell.

Yes, please update after your vet visit. Curious minds want to know! You didn't say if it was the skin or breath or inside ears? Odors can mean different things depending on where they are coming from. Kidney failure and Parvo have distinct and unforgettable smells, but both of those are unlikely since he has no other symptoms.

Hey, y'all, just got back from the vet and since Denver got put on ”stay at home” orders, they had a tech meet me at the front door and I wasn’t allowed in. I expressed the concerns I had and they didn’t give me any information about it. I had to wait in the car. Pretty bummed about it. I get the whole thing about the coronavirus and the precautionary measures needed, but for crying out loud, they could have addressed the issues. I even called after I got him and of course they didn’t answer the phone. The tech that brought him back out was a different one and couldn’t give me any answers. I think it’s time to change his vet. I think that was very unprofessional and if it were a child, that would have went differently. I am seriously bummed out.

I can guarantee this would not happen at our Vet Hospital. We call the owners and put them on speaker phone and Doc talks to them, tells them what we found and what we recommend doing about it. Never should a tech assume the role of Vet in a situation like this. If it’s a minor issue we techs will relay the Dr.’s message and tell them the Dr. will call them. That is absolutely unacceptable!!

We are required to take these precautions with Coronavirus but it in no way prevents us from doing what is right with the animal. Definitely a new Vet is in your future.
How much did they charge you if you don’t mind me asking?
Did you get a detailed receipt?

Totally unacceptable. Definitely getting him a new vet. I’m appalled. He’s very tired. After the appointment we played around at the park for a few hours. They charge 40 bucks for new bandages.
