Raw diet supplement

Was talking to a veterinarian technician today. Told her I had my puppy on a raw diet she said to make sure you add taurine to the raw anyone else hear the same. BTW he weighed 21 lbs on the ninth today he's 32 LBS

Raw eggs has taurine, Turkey is higher in taurine than beef, chicken and other meats. Sardines are a good source of taurine as well.
I supplement my twins with taurine and L-Carnitine even though they get it in their raw diet.

Scallops are also high in taurine.

Yes, that is true, however being bivalves, they are filter feeders and can uptake toxins from the toxic microalgae like organisms that bloom in the warmer months of summer and late Spring.
These organisms are called dinoflagellates that produce neurotoxins that can affect the pets muscle function and can cause PSP, which is Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning.
This is why they always say don’t eat oysters and other bivalves in months that do not have an ‘R’ in them. This is when the blooms grow and form the microalgae organisms as these are the warmest months. It’s best to forego giving them to your dog or other pets and either supplement with taurine or give different foods rich in taurine.

I mentioned it because I saw a post about them on here. That said they were high in taurine, so I though it was worth mentioning on here.

I tend to flop to the negative side when it comes to shellfish and bivalves only because of where I live. The waters are extremely warm, bordering on hot here, not to mention the red tide that was pushing its way South. If you have a trusted source to get them from much cooler waters then the risk would be far less and dogs do love them. Lol

BTW I LOVE seared scallops. :D

So off topic. But lemon garlic butter scallops are my favorite.

I will make a champagne sauce and serve it over linguini with Scallops and Key West Pinks. Now I am getting hungry. :p
Lots of garlic!!
