When she went over the gate I think she cheated a bit by giving herself a boost over on the cross bars. Regardless, it made me realise that this dog can't be left in a yard unsupervised! :sour: Now, teaching her to bounce on the spot would probably be much less damaging than some of the silly things she has done all by herself! :facepalm:They REFUSE to be wrapped in cotton wool!

Jazz doesn’t sound like the kind of dog that would escape, she sounds pretty under control to me :thumbsup2:

I’m thinking this is something I’ll teach in the summer on the yard. We feed him on the deck and I can imagine the neighbors might be alarmed to see him bouncing up like that haha. Mind you, I’ve never seen Kaiser do a bounce with all four paws off the floor, so I have no idea what kind of height he might get.

Kaiser is a fairly compact, lightweight Dobermann, isn't he? He has a more substantial head than Oji, but how much does Kaiser weigh? The thing with Oji is he is narrow (thus, is only about 70 - 72 lbs. at 28") but I suspect he is just as strong as Dobes much heavier than him.

Oji came by this jumping up and down tendency naturally and didn't take any real encouragement to do it – I just took control of it. So, he probably gets his beak up to about 6 1/2 feet, or maybe 7 feet on his highest jumps.

I would work with his desire to follow food. The food lure is the easiest way to teach him anything. Somehow I don't think he'll jump with all four though, so I may need to come up with something creative there. He is 28 and 80. He'll have a check up in January so we will weigh him again. Hopefully all the summer hikes have helped to build muscle mass.

7 feet is just wow!

Here's where being a featherweight pays off.

Me and the dogs went for a little jaunt up the mountain, my house sits at 1100 ft and the peak is 2700 ft. We didn’t make it to the top but almost! I wanted to leave enough daylight to get back as it goes quick. It’s nice having a pretty clear trail, except knowing the reason is because of bear traffic. For this reason I don’t go into the woods without my .40.

I got Brinks some new frisbees off Amazon, they’re smaller and the material is a softer more pliable rubber type than hard plastic. I think I prefer the larger traditional ones, but he still seems to like them!

He loves it! I see Rio is back to move along pretty well, too. Is he all better?

quite pleased with this little basement set-up we have going on! Obviously not even really jumping but jumping isn't out challenge... handling and obstacles are so that's what we're working on!

Looking very willing and attentive! You had me startled when you teleported off screen,, and Jazz woke up with all the warm "good girls" she heard and presented herself for a pat.
