The Valley of the Donkeys

Kaiser and master went for a valley hike where both took on some new adventures and came out for the better. Never heard my hb talk so positively and lovingly about Kaiser. A real shift has happened for him.

Oh and there were actual donkeys :woot2:

But first, all the disgusting stuff - bones and dead animals.

Nice place to Party...is it far from you guys?
It's a 40 minute drive from the house to the start of the valley where I dropped them off. The route they took was 3 hrs to cross. The valley exit was about 15 minutes away from the town I was shopping in haha. We made a day of it. I stocked up on supplies and ran errands while the boys scoped out the place. Funny when I GPS'd my hb's location it said he was just 20 minutes away from me haha. That was a panic moment :woot2:

Funny you bring up "snipper mode"... Grace see's me in my private room tonight...the one I posted this week with her on the pillow looking in...I'd been at church all day for a social event and I guess she felt confident and was needy...so she snaps into sniper mode and makes her way inch by inch across the room to me feet...Like I can't see her...LOL, she finally get to the objective and looks up with them Betty Davis eyes and gives me a whine and a high 5 paw...so needy these Dobes:rolleyes:

I do remember that! I think that's also why my hb remembered it. It was fresh on his mind haha and he had to see it for himself!

It is a useful skill. You never know when you need it! My hb tossed a treat over the fence and told Kaiser to 'get it'. We will use some leftover 2x4 from our basement development to simulate a fence.

WOW, looks like a very cool place to hike! I wonder why so many dead things? Looks like Death Valley. LOL Love the donkeys! Yours too! ;) The boys had a great time!

I'm trying to get her to do it on command....It's so funny, belly crawling to sneak around...:)
Oh, yea, it might come in handy one day! I taught Buddy to come to me with a wave of my hand. I always thought if there was a burglar or something I can signal to him. Doing a belly crawl might come in handy too LOL.

Funny that you say this. I am waiting and hoping this happens with my wife. There tends to be some disappointment on her part because Ragnar will bypass her to get to me.

She is home with him all day, feeds breakfast and lunch and he does not show any care to her what so ever. Now, he will seek her out, make eye contact and then move about like he is checking up on her.

In his defense, Ragnar is not an affectionate Doberman. He is very aloof and independent. Hardly ever seeks out affection or cuddles.

Like you, I guess I need to find a mountainous valley to drop both of them into so they can work out their differences?.?.? Maybe they can seek solace and fortune from donkeys on the hillside and be better for it.

@Kaiser2016 weren't you concerned about his weight? I vote forget what the scales say. He doesn't look thin at all.
Seeing the bones reminded me of when we were all at the farm. My son says Where's G? No where to be seen, he called her. She came almost immediately dragging the hind leg of a deer. Pretty fresh so my son went to check it out. He found a doe on the edge of the corn field apparently taken down by something but not eaten yet.
Glad the boys had a good time!

This is so cool! So much animal carnage would have me a bit concerned though – like, I hope whatever predator(s) that are around here only come out at night and are afraid of dogs and people.

You know, I have found that getting myself and my Dobe out of the daily routine bring about an appreciation. This almost always involves being outside.

Not so much hiking for us, because around here there aren't many opportunities to let Oji off leash. On-leash hiking is not relaxing at all for me, or anyone around me, because Oji is either pulling like a freight train or I have him on a heel or "go slow" on the downhills. This requires enforcement and thus creates stress.

But yeah, even sometimes just sitting on the porch at night just my buddy and me makes me feel appreciation for the rascal.

We plan to go camping this summer. Will be Oji's first time, and our daughter's first as well.

awesomeness lol never once thought about the darn predator that did it.
It was the first thing I thought of!

I thought...Canada... probably mountain lion or wolves did this.

My second thought was a little more scary.
Why are there so many remnants of the dead in this valley? Where are the scavenger animals? Coyotes, the buzzards? Bears?
Why aren’t they going in there to clean up?
What would keep them from the easy meal???
Canada... maybe it wasn’t wolves or a cougar?
I don’t think that’s Donkey Valley.
I think that’s BigFoot valley!
