What's your opinion on this (Pit Bulls)

Then again there are accounts of dogs laying faithfully by their master's/mistress' dead bodies and guarding them.

The cops said this is what these dogs were doing.

I noticed a couple of things in the initial story and I read the story Matt provided the screen shot of.
First, they said the dogs were between 110 and 120 lbs.
An APBT is about half that weight. Slightly less actually. They aren't big, tall dogs. The one Daisy and I met...Daisy towered over that lil pit bull. And yes, that pit was full grown, older than Daisy.

Second, from the story Matt screen shot.
Sherrif Agnew said "Once a dog gets a taste for human blood..bla bla bla" bullshit!
Something about this story stinks and I suspect a couple of hick Sherrifs;)

Good point. That could be a sensational lie – the eating at the rib cage part – to cover up some wrongdoing by someone.

Yes, if the dogs were that heavy, it would be a rare Pit that reaches that weight. If they were proportionally tall – most 100 lb. dogs are rather tall – they were probably less Pit and more Mastiff-type. Still, the weights could be an estimate and depends on the reliability of the cops and media. Many times, folks tend to exaggerate the weight of a dog, especially when they are trying to convey that a dog is tough/mean/scary.

Just did. Thanks for that :confused-alt:
Never heard of that before?

Ever see the movie The Shining?
That's where I first heard about it.
Edit..since it's already OT, I won't post another OT
The Shining was a suspenseful film and while yes, Jack Nicholson was the star of the film I have a better gauge to measure.
Scatman Crothers was also in it. Any movie with that guy in it is worth watching.:)

Have you ever noticed how far out of the park peoples guesstimates on weight are? My neighbor told someone that his PWD was about 80lbs and that my Dobermans were at least 100lbs maybe more.
I had to laugh because his dog in reality only weighs 49lbs and is a few lbs overweight. When I said my female only weighed 75lbs and my male 80lbs he didn’t believe me. Peoples perceptions are way off on guessing weight if they don’t deal with weighing dogs frequently. These cops are most likely exaggerating on the weight. Most pit types weigh less than a Doberman and as has been stated, they are a shorter dog than a Doberman, which is described as a medium dog, not large.

Yep. Ppl see pics of Kaiser and always say he must be a 100 lbs.

While on a hike, we ran into someone who proclaimed "A king Doberman! Wow look at him!" He went on to tell us that he had a warlock Doberman about 20 yrs ago
Warlock?!?!? I have to walk away from these people because I usually wind up with a blank stare to keep from telling them they are STUPID and misinformed.
They always say it like you will be impressed.:banghead:
