Opinions welcome.Yes,I see the spell check of passed which was pissed.:D

This is a new frontier for Daisy, surfing or taking advantage is not her norm.At almost 7 years old she continues to surprise.

This will lead to thread #2 in a while, what to do with that left over turkey.;)

Ooooohhhh who is the guilty one ... Lol we nipped that one a long time ago but with booooo she would be the one to surf lol so far she hasn't but you can see she's a surfer lol

Mischa did it once. Stole my bowl of (chocolate) ice cream. That's when mouse traps went on the counter. She won't even sniff it anymore haha!

You see?
This is why I even post this.
She's almost 7 years old.She counter surfed onrce,at my sister in laws house when she was about a year or so old.Sje knew it was wrong then, and has known since.
She's my girl. She's the dog I could leave a plate with a T bone and potatoes on the living room coffee table and trust she might look but would not touch. She would keep a distance while she looked, but would never dare touch.
This behavior is very out of character for her.

Guess you must have really pissed her off... Or she really loves Turkey? (moreso than steak)

We had to cut back on Greta's food awhile back and she became a temporary counter surfer. That was a tough adjustment for me. She was also one I could leave a steak in front of. I figured how to fill her up with less calories....finally.
So the only change is you left her for the weekend?

LOL, look at that guilty look. It took me a minute to find her too. :D

She could very well be ticked at you for leaving and like someone said, the turkey may have been irresistible to her. Our two don't counter surf (KOW) but Boris did. I guess I've never been one to leave food on the counter and if I'm fixing dinner and have to leave the room I stick it in the fridge or microwave so they're not tempted.

I have a counter surfer that doesn't care what you put out to deter him. I have tried mouse traps and still nothing. He even stuck his paw up on the stove the other week while I was cooking, I thought that surely that would break him of it. Nope. I have to be sure vigilant or lock him in his crate when I need to do stuff in the kitchen.

It could be very well that she does this for you because she knows Daddy wouldn't be too happy if she did something like that. Momma obviously isn't either, but once they figure out they can do it ONCE without getting caught because we're distracted or w/e that is all it takes for them to learn ;)

As cruel as it might sound, the best way to break this is to either bait her and scare the bejeezus out of her before she gets her prize (mouse traps, tape, stuff to knock over) or remove permissions from kitchen (may not be doable depending on layout). If either of those don't work then she'll have to be locked up for a moment or all things removed from counter (put in oven or something).

That's Buddy. :) I don't usually temp with a T bone within reach, LOL but I've left something in the family room while I answer a phone or something and he won't touch it. He's never been a counter surfer and I'm grateful!! LOL! Our first Dobie was and what a PITA to always watch what is left out! :confused-alt:

And when we had cats, :groan: they had to be watched too! I'll never forget when we were first married and had a cat with our Pomeranian's ...we left the house and happened to look in the window and here was the cat, happily sitting on the kitchen counter looking out the window. :nono:

Cats! Almost seem to be worse, don't they?? Hard to train because they are so gosh darned determined. My one cat has never been a counter surfer. I don't like cats sitting or walking on places I prepare food so that was never a go. Then in comes my other kitty who lived outdoors and probably was allowed to be on the counters and she TAUGHT the other one, "Hey theres good stuff up here!" Even worse was she knew how to open cupboards where our food was
.:machinegun:

It took a while but broke them both of that. All my animals have learned they aren't allowed to put their paws in the kitchen so they stay out. Keeping the counter cleaned helped too but that other trick helps when we forget and leave something out. Now it is so precious to watch them all sitting at the edge where the carpet stops and the tile begins, with big watery, bubbly eyes of begging, lol.:cat::cat::dog2::dog2:

My children's cats are horrible. They know they aren't allowed on counters or tables, and when they jump up there all I have to do is say their name and they go running. Unfortunately, they get on the table every night after we go to bed [emoji37] and of course my daughter always leaves a cup of water for them to knock over.

Ok. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to undermine the seriousness of the act, but I am cracking up over here. That picture is priceless.

Is she hypothyroid? I can't remember. If this continues you might get her levels checked. Sometimes an older dog can have a change in organ function that will result in behavior changes, although this sounds like a classic case of the mice playing while the cat is away :)

I have two...ahem..."little girls" cough, cough...who are the WORST counter surfers ever!! Faith can get to my backsplash in about 2 seconds which is quite impressive because they are waist high for me and I am 5' 10". I bought scat mats. Solved it for Aria. Had to get the EC out for Faith. Rascals!

I just googled the scat mats. I am going to convince my husband to let me buy that to try with TD. I am at my wit's end with how to keep him down! I do want to rearrange the eating assignments for the animals and get his dishes out of the kitchen, so hopefully we can make the kitchen a no go zone for animals.
