WZ ?

Ive been looking up differant Pedigrees lately on dobes and have seen where people refere to some dobes as having WZ. What the heck is WZ ?:)

Wow Pam, I had no idea there was a list like that, and I also had no idea they were all descendents of those two particular dogs. Very interesting!

Della was from an accidental breeding so she has the WZ in her registration, and she's on that list. It doesn't mean we love her any less, or that she isn't a great dog, but we'd never, ever consider breeding her with the Z factor in her lines (she was spayed as soon as she was old enough), and no one else should either. :)

It surprises me that there are still people who do not know what WZ is. Just goes to show that JQP is not as informed as we would like and we must never stop educating. Unfortunatly good people get taken in and as long as they do the responsbile thing and spay/neuter then it is a good think that a good dog thorugh no fault of their own have a wonderful loving home. After all they did not ask to be born. They are purely the manipulation of people who do not even know there is a standard or just don't care.

Glad Della fell into a gold mine. That girl never has to worry about being exploited and misused!!! If all were as responsible we could end it.

Thanks, great info.I just got Diablo's papers back.In the AKC paper work i recieved it says ( please dont breed your doberman if WZ is the first two letters before their #) but it doesnt explain why or what the other letters meen like in my papers theres....WS#...WP#...WR#...and #V plus #

Oh I'm glad they've added that now - it wasn't on Della's papers when we had her registered in 2009.

We have a list of what all of the abbreviations mean somewhere here so if I can find the link I'll post it.

The first 2 letters (WP, WR, WS...) The "W" is for Working Group, the 2nd letter is just where they are in the alphabet with the # of Dobes registered. Example: After x amount of WE's, they kicked over to WF's and so on through the alphabet..... (with the acception of the "Z")

A dog in the Hound Group will have a registration # that begins with H

Do you mean papers for your other dogs? Or other letter that are on Diablo's papers?

Ok that makes alot of sense now,but i have one more ? for you. This is Diablo's grandpaws #......( #V306262) which is differant than all the rest on his ped. What does it meen?

Must have been registered with another registry (one recognized by the AKC). If the Maybe Suzan or Pitts can tell you where he was imported from. (where the "V" came from).

Looking back through my boy's pedigree... 1929 Ch Astor of Westphalia, his reg # was AKC901610, then one of his sons 1931, Ch Kurt vd Rheinperle-Rhinegold, his reg. # was 857104 (with no letters at all), then one of his son's Ch Pericles of Westphalia in 1937, reg # A169573. Then in 1947, Ch Rancho Dobe's Primo W57334, then a "WA" shows up in 1960 Ch Ravensburg's Falsta and they're all progressive with 2 letters after that.

Thats odd cause its only 3rd gen back.... but Diabol's grandpaw is from (THE S BAR M) i wonder if anyone on here knows or has delt with them.

Reggie's sire: Julius Ceasar Von Schnetzer AKC WS00732403
Reggie's Fraternal GrandSire: Roxstarr's Julius Ceasar AKC WP60191605
Reggie's Maternal GrandSire: Sun Ray Of Brightstar WP76781505

GreatGrandsires on the top side:
Zeus Cave: WP50740002
Kimbertal's Black Dax: WP68718903
GreatGrandsires on the bottom end:
Bruce Brown of Brightstar: WP65309601
Luke Leviticus Ferguson: WP52703502

All of the male's in the first 3 generation after Reggie all have AKC #'s, so I don't know where the "V" is coming from. Is it on the bottom 1/2 of the pedigree?

Does a DNA # show up only on a full reg or on a male puppy? or is it something the breeder chooses to put on? It is on Nexus's certificate by her sire's name but not on Bella's.
Both of their numbers are WS, as was Mysti's also.
There are only 3 reg #'s on Mysti's Dam's pedigree, all WP's
There are a variety of letters on her sire's pedigree, some WP, some WG, WF, WD, and WC.
There is one thing I am confused about, on the registration certificate you get from the AKC, it has the sire and dam, and there is a date next to the reg #, for example, Mysti's sire reads: CH Eisamar's Daredevil, and under his name WP638572/08 (09-99) OFA36G I had thought at first the date (09-99) was the birthdate, but later on when he was listed on the Longevity list, it showed he was born on 6-12-95, so what is the (09-99)? a date, or rather, similar numbers that appear to be a date appears on all the registration certificates I have.

Again, the letters at the beginning of a registration # show what group "W" (working) and C,D,F,.... just the letter they happen to be on in the book. After WP, they went to WR, then WS... They will only register so many dogs with the same prefex, then move on to the next letter. (and they have skipped a few letters also).

The /08 at the end of this dog's reg # means he was the 8th pup in that litter (which it appears there were 10 pups in that litter)

09-99 was when he was entered into the Stud Book (indicates the 1st time he produced a litter)

Pam, do you remember exactly where you go on the AKC site where you can type in the registration number and see the entire litter and who owns the others? Someone had posted the direct link before and I found it really interesting, but now I can't remember how to get exactly there.

This will take you to Free Online Services
http://www.akc.org/store/free/
You can use the Dog Lookup to see what a dog's reg # is (if you only have a name).
Once you have the reg #, you can check to see if the littermates are registered (just use Back To Search and change the last 2 #'s in the original reg #.... single digits, us a zero first (01, 02...).

This link, you can see WHEN the dog was registered (AKC # required) or transferred (transaction # required)...
http://www.akc.org/form_status/
You can see the application status, name and color of the dog, but it does not show who owns the dog.
