Also, a side note to @Katyusharocket on your concern about SSA with your girls: both dogs gathered around me while opening the package - they knew it was something new & edible (no, I couldn't smell anything!) and it was something they'd never had so both were excited. I didn't have the sticks out of the bag yet and Asha growled at Reckless - warning R that she was too close or might get a stick before Asha did? Reckless backed off a couple of steps and I verbally scolded Asha with a sharp no. Made both the dogs sit to get their stick. Then they both went to their respective places to chew on their new prize. Just saying that things can escalate when you least expect it and you should always be quick on the spot to take charge. This is where all the basic obedience (sit, stay, place etc.) override all else and you can deflate the issue in seconds.
Also, we were able to tell the dogs to leave it, escort out the door, then pick up the chews and put them away for another time. Nobody physically takes the chew away, we simply say leave it so it's the dog who puts it down.
Here's to happy chewing for hours!
