I recently started making my dogs food at home and I am wondering what supplements i need / the best way to incorporate them. My dobie is 7 years old and his only issue has been dry skin every now and then.
The recipe he’s on now usually includes - ground meat (chicken, beef, bison, etc) - i change it up sometimes.
Chicken liver, a mix of veggies, rice (that has been soaked so it’s easy to digest), fruit- usually blueberries, coconut oil, flax seed, egg/egg shells.
i want to Add fish oil and possibly some
Other supplements. And ideas/ ways to cook them? Or if i should just give him pills separately with his food. Thanks in advance!

If you want to add fish oil, just feed sardines once or twice a week. I feed a 3 oz can (sardines in water, no salt) once a week on top of regular meal.

Vinci takes fish oil pills + glucosamine (powder) + taurine (powder) + turmeric (powder). The powders mix well in with honest kitchens dehydrated meal and I top it off with fish oil pills.

My dogs are pretty young yet (Dobe is 4, Lab almost 2) but they get a scoop of plain yogurt, one Ligaplex II capsule (manganese), one 100mg Vit C tablet, and a couple tablespoons of bone broth on top of their kibble per day. The Lab also gets Dasuquin with MSM once a day to maintain. They get a raw egg or pumpkin here and there and a few veggie scraps when we're cooking and our default treats at home are dehydrated liver.

You need organs and bones to help supply essential vitamins and minerals. If they do not get the proper amounts it can lead to weakening of their bones and ligaments.
