Many of you know Scooby, our lab/pit mix. A few days ago, he stopped eating. Got him to eat a little bit of scrambled eggs Wednesday, but nothing yesterday. Had to give him water by syringe and ice chips all last night and we wouldnt get off the couch. It had been almost 24 hours since he had used the bathroom. When vet time came, we couldnt get him to move. Hubby tried to lift him and he growled and snapped. We finally got him on a blanket and had the neighbor come over and help carry him to the car. The vet brought out a stretcher to get him inside. Blood sugar was ok, so diabetes was ruled out. Urine looked good, and we were going to start antibiotics and pain meds thinking it was an infection. Last minute decided to do some xrays just to check everything, and it showed cancer spread throughout his body. They said they could remove his spleen, and that would give him more time, but it had spread to his chest and there was nothing they could do about that. The best thing to do was let him go, as he was suffering a great deal, so his heart beat for the last time around 230 pm EST today. He would have been 10 on March 10th. We were NOT expecting news this bad... and did not expect to be coming home alone! Please keep hubby in your prayers. He has a weird way of dealing with things, and I'm not even sure how to act around him right now, or what to say or not to say! Scooby was his heart dog for sure. Run free Scooby, you're pain free now! Screenshot_2016-01-23-14-31-49-1.png

    Oh man....
Sorry to hear, things like that just hit you in the gut until sometime, somehow it just kinda dissipates. But then still tends to linger around.

    Thinking of y’all.

Thats awful.. Went through the same thing my my old Golden Retriever years ago, but with bone cancer. The sudden loss of our dogs is one of the most difficult things a person has to go through. My condolences to you both. RIP Scooby.
