RIP Sherpa from Cornwall

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along news that Sherpa, the Malamute that lived in Cornwall, UK, along with his owner Jamie, has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was 13.5 years old. I know Jamie is devastated at this point. But Sherpa was having difficulty standing and getting up to walk or use the bathroom. At his last vet appointment, they found a huge malignant tumor on his spleen, but also several tumors on his liver. The surgeons did indicate they could remove the splenetic tumor and much of those on his liver, but not all of them. In essence, it would shred his liver. Jamie elected not to perform the surgery, but to spend the last few hours with him and be with him when he said goodbye. I'm encouraged that he's as strong as he is, I hope he maintains that strength... not only for himself, but for K'eyush, Sherpa's best friend.

RIP Sherpa. You deserve your freedom!

As an update, Jodie, K'eyeush's owner, has indicated that she wasn't going to tell K'eyush about Sherpa, for now. She stated she'd just find other things for K'ey to do without him. Perhaps, they'll visit Sherpie's cousin, "Nephew Nook" (Jamie's parents own him). But that, eventually, K'ey will have to be told... I suspect when Jamie 1st comes to visit Jodie at her (and her Mom's) house without Sherpa.

So far, it seems that K'ey hasn't missed Sherpa (but that could simply be good "video editing" on Jodie's part).

Within the last day or two, Jamie received the "cremains" back from the crematory. He's awaiting the special urn he purchased for Sherpa. But they also left some residual ash outside the sealed cardboard container/cylinder so that Jamie could get some jewelry made out of it. He's doing a lot better than before. He's even able to take walks (on his own) at some of the places he enjoyed going with Sherpa and remember them fondly.
