A big Thank You to you all! It was really rough saying goodbye and it took days for the swelling in my eyes to go down. The house is so quiet. Hans was our only pet. Something amazing happened though- I wasn't going to bring up the topic of getting a new dog because I work full time and the bulk of the dog duties fall on my partner Jack. I'd been feeling guilty about him caring for Hans while I was at work, so I didn't say anything. Jack brought up the topic and it turns out he wants another DOBERMAN!!!! He's hooked! So I'm looking around for a new Doberman :) Looking toward the future sure helps with the grief. I've found one promising lead which is a miracle in an area where Dobermans are scarce.

Oh I hope you can find one! We all take it at a different pace and for us, we feel so empty when we lose one and want to start a new chapter as soon as the right one comes along.

I just now saw this. I am so very sorry, Hans was a phenomenal boy.
I know how hard it is to make that decision but I do know it’s the greatest gift you can bestow on your boy to let him go peacefully.
Fly high Hans, you are truly loved!
