My bird was not ready to go back to her perch after our puzzle training/play time.
She decided to do the famous beak bite roll. This is when she takes her beak and grabs a hunk of skin and rolls it while pinching it with her beak. She seldom breaks the skin but damnnnn the tissue damage is evident days later. She did the bite about an inch above the bruise and it was swelled to the size of a golf ball.
I told her no and she promptly started telling me NO NO NO. This is 5 days after the incident.
She isn’t a mean Macaw but she loves to play puzzle games with me and doesn’t want the play to end.
Hubs says I spoil them but they need the mental stimulation just like dobies do.

I found my old coloring book in the attic yesterday. This is a unique one- you choose five colors ranging from dark to light and color in the circles based on what shade you have in your hand.

You should be able to guess what this will be once I am done.

This is what the circles look like. #1 is the darkest shade, #5 is the lightest.

Rooster?

Awww thank you @MyBuddy you are the sweetest! I’ve just been trying to have fun and spend time with the animals, kind of refresh myself mentally with the time off. They have been so happy and honestly it makes me happy too, before I felt too far removed from them. We go hiking, on walks, we went to a bbq yesterday and their “aunt” gave them all deer antlers. We cuddle in the mornings and unless I have to go to the store for something we’re all always together. Love it!

Jasper taking a nap on his dad who is working on some at home assignments from school. He is studying pharmacy and has been doing the online webcam classes. He hates it. I told him its still early and he’ll get used to it. Plus, his commute is normally 1.5hrs there and back. So its freeing up some time!

@Tropicalbri's Gosh you must be busy with those birds. They are so much work, like taking care if a toddler! I came close to getting a green conure as a first bird a few years back. But then I babysat my neighbors for just a single week. She told me he was sassy. He was so cute, but ill just say- I know I wouldn’t want to get bit by your big birds. Even the little guys hurt.

@Lizbeli yes they can be demanding of my time but it’s fun to play with them. I use dominos and wood blocks, climbing ropes and puzzle toys with them. I will hide their food in coconuts that I peel the husk off of and drain the water. I hide their food in all kinds of things so they have to forage for their food. It keeps their minds active. They all hurt when they bite but my yellow nape and Cockatoo have the worst bites with that curved bottom beak. Thank goodness Baby doesn’t bite me. The big Macaw is a good bird but she does get cheeky at times when she doesn’t get her way. :D
I’ve trained her to roll over, play dead and will stand on her head for a couple seconds. She is fun to work with.

It was 60 yesterday and 50 in the evening. Beautiful evening for a fire. Paigey getting some loving. She eventually passed out on her side when the fire died down to nice glowing coals. She was all nice and toasty.

Being in quarantine hasn’t really affected the day to day. When I’m in the office I’m pretty much in isolation anyway so being at home I have Ezri (although I do bring her to the office from time to time).

This week was also a first for me:
I was a guest lecturer at Texas A&M for the advanced python coding class for their MS in Analytics course.
Of course it was online (all of TAMU is online right now)

It went really well, and I already got an invite to come back next year. I feel honored in this, figuring I graduated from the program last year.
