Random aggression

Hi everyone! So I recently broke my foot and have a cast & crutches and all of a sudden bruce (my Doberman) has been aggressive towards me.. he’s bit me twice now drawing blood once leaving a huge bruise on my forearm. first time he got me we were laying down and he was resting his head on my lap and my crutches fell and he growled I told him off and I went to go pick up my crutches and he snapped and got my arm second time I was petting him and he growled told him off and he snapped. Both times I put him in the cage for a few minutes so he knows when he bites he goes into the cage but the issue is, he loves his cage.. so I feel like it’s not much of a punishment. Since I can’t walk, my husband is the one to now take him on walks, feed him, take him out etc… he was good before I got hurt. I’m not sure what’s going on or If there is anything I can do to fix this.. he’s a year old now. Any advice on how to fix this would be amazing considering I’ll be in a cast for about another 2 months!!

Side note: only aggression he’s had in the past towards me was his due to his crate & resource guarding it but we have gotten passed that hence putting him in the crate after he bites me is not a punishment to him. We are getting him neutered within the next few weeks so I’m hoping that helps!

Neutering won't help change the behavior and it's recommended to wait until they're at least 2 so they can mature before you remove those important hormones.

I would make the couch and any other luxuries off limits until he respects you so he doesn't think he's ruling the roost.

I hope you have a quick recovery!
