How old is he? What health testing has he had so far? What blood lines? Conformation or Performance titles?

What health testing have you done in him? Do you have OFA on hips, elbows and eyes. Is he VWD Clear. Have you done a holter to check his heart? Lots of things that need to be done before studding your male. What makes him stud worthy? Does he have performance titles? Conformation titles? What is his temperament? These are all crucial things that need to be considered before using him as a Stud dog.

Order a vWD & DCM1 (and DCM2 if available) dna tests from VetGen or Gensol.

Your vet can do OFA hip x-rays and send off to OFA. (or a PennHip)

Rent or borrow a 24 hr Holter monitor for evaluation. (I use NCSU)

Your vet can draw a blood sample and send it off to MSU for thyroid check.

Then find a canine ophthalmologist to evaluate for PRA

Just a quick list for the moment for a start.

Structurally? Do you have any pictures of him standing? What bloodlines is he from?

He is obviously a red (or chocolate) Doberman. So I take it he isn't registered?

Even if you found out, the previous owner would have to sign a transfer of ownership over to you. She need to request a duplicate registration certificate. Only the owner of record can request that.
