My sweet G gave up her fight with cancer. She gave it a good run for it's money and a few times we thought she had it beat. Cancer won again. :(
GiGi was my son's dog. She was a retired bitch from a breeder that came to live with him just over 6 years ago. He gave her a great life on a 200 acre farm. G quickly became the Queen and stole all our hearts. Run free pretty girl........

They spent many hours sitting on the river bank together. Sometimes fishing and sometimes camping and even just hanging out. G went just about everywhere with Dan. He's going to have a tough time adjusting to life without her. :(

This one is especially hard because I have to watch my son cope with the heartbreak. Dan is a tough guy that doesn't show his emotions much. I saw him cry for the first time since his was a little squirt when she passed. No matter how old your kids are, it's tough to see them hurt so much. If there is such a thing as a double broken heart, I've got one.

She was indeed. That girl stepped up to anything my son wanted to try. Dan taught her to hunt morel mushrooms. That made them some pretty good money. He also taught her to wait for a command to get in the river. It's a huge river that can run pretty fast, especially during high water. The currents can be dangerous and he didn't want her thinking she could just run in anytime she felt like it. Her favorite thing was to hunt Asian carp. When the river comes up it brings the carp into the creek that borders the farm. Dan would send her to catch them and bring them to the bank where they met their demise. The Conservation Dept was pretty happy about that too.

We're all going to miss her. She was so in twined in our lives that her loss left a big old hole.

She was a huge part of my life. Dan brought her with him when he came over and that is pretty often. Of course we spent our fair share of time at his house. It's nice to have the farm for the dogs to get a good run in. Nothing like seeing a dobie run wide open. With a river and a creek on the borders my mud daubers were happy to slop around in it. The creek bank always seemed to be nice and muddy.

I didn't really talk about it. I was just too heartbroken. It all started with a mast cell tumor that was VERY persistent. Then we got to a place where she had spots on her liver. Oncologist said there wasn't much that could be done at that point. There was treatment but given her age and the persistence, he didn't recommend it. My son took her to a holistic vet that recommended some supplements. She actually did pretty well for a few months. That is until she didn't. She went downhill pretty quick.

It was actually Drake that noticed something wrong. He kept smelling her back where the tumor was. Even before it was visible.
We kept telling him um, Drake, I think you need to smell lower, isn't the butt what you're looking for? :D

G is back home. My son picked up her ashes yesterday.

The little blue bag is wild flower seeds that came with this card
Dan is going to plant them in their fishing spot where G would lay while they fished.
