Is my Dobbie underweight?

Hello guys,

I’m looking for your opinion on how Fredo looks. He’s 7 months old about to be 8 months on the 29th. Currently 69 pounds. He gets fed 4 1/2 cups of Fromm (Large breed puppy) a day. I got a friend who thinks he’s on the skinny side and recommended satin balls. What do you guys think?

He looks great to me! It's so easy to worry about weight, but I don't think you have anything to be worried about. When Dobes are overweight it puts a lot of pressure on their joints. Since Fredo is still growing, you definitely don't want any extra weight on him. Satin balls are so rich they can cause diarrhea, so be very careful if you try them.

I think he looks great! He's young and lean. No hip bones sticking out, which for me would be an indication that he is too thin. A little rib showing is no big deal. He's much better off being on the lean side then overweight.

Looks just right to me, lean and lanky typical of his age. Trying to "fatten him up" could do more harm than good.

He's fine. He most definitely does NOT need satin balls. He's still a puppy, what your friend is mistaking for being underweight is just lanky puppy stage.

I think he looks great! I’d rather see him lean rather than on the heavy side. Remember, he’s still young and as yet to fill out. At that age they are ALL legs. They all grow in fits and starts.

He looks great! There's a meme somewhere with 2 labs in it. One says your dog is skinny, the other says I can see your dogs diabetes.
It's very true though. Many people, especially lab, boxer, and daschund owners, have very fat dogs. I hate to say it but 90% of the time the owner is also large. But that's really no excuse. There is a guy on my block who is in a motorized wheelchair. His golden is in fantastic shape! She goes out twice a day at his top speed (she's trotting.)
Anyhow... no your dobe does not need to be fattened up.

They go through so many growth stages at this age that you will vacillate between being too skinny to being overweight.

He looks perfect to me for his age. Relax and enjoy him. :)
