Irina Barrett Finally Jailed and Prohibited from Future Animal Ownership

I genuinely hope that this is my last post ever about Irina Barrett, but after seeing what she's done to animals AND how she's bullied breeders and owners in the past, I feel like I need to close the loop.

It's taken over ten years since her puppy mill was initially uncovered, but she's now finally spent a few months in jail and she will be on probation for 60 years once she's released, with probation barring any contact with animals. If she is caught so much as walking a dog anytime in the next 60 years, she will go back to jail.

The wheels of justice turn slowly but, apparently, sometimes justice is eventually served.

I say praise this judge for doing what he could!
Surprisingly it's incredibly hard to stop "things" like her. Sorry but I just can't call her human, so in my world she is a thing. So because of her thing status I doubt this will stop her. She's SICK and jail time and probation do not stop sick!

It really is a deep rabbit hole when you start digging into it. It's been going on for over a decade, and when you think it can't get any worse, it does. :-(

It makes me cry....I understand the judge can only do so much...brings me back to Michael Vic and him getting a job again. Those people should be treated as they treated the animals they destroyed.

Oh, I went to the bottom. Or at least as far back as is documented on the internet, where I can verify that it is her and in a language I can read; about 2008. She was a prolific poster on another forum, there were accusations that on Russian language dog forums she wrote explicitly about a "big doberman market in the US", which, if true; I consider "a statement of intent to puppy mill".
That's one of the parts I find most disgusting about this: how deliberate and predatory the import and breeding was, nothing "got out of hand", it was the plan all along. The only thing that didn't go to plan, was that she got caught. People like her won't stop unless forced, simply avoiding providing them business isn't enough.

You hit the nail on the head. It didn't "get out of hand". When her operation was first uncovered in 2013, showing that she'd produced 100 puppies in a year, she had over a decade to dial it back. Instead, after being denied a zoning variance to operate at all, she continued to operate at that location and opened another one in another state.
