Let's see if I can make this make sense.

I started with 3 pieces of fleece 60 inches long by 4 inches wide. I stacked the strips together and and folded in half to find the center. I marked the center with a clothes pin and started braiding there for about 5 inches or so. Then I turned it around and started braiding from the center again for about 5 inches. Then I curled the ends together to make a circle (handle) and took the 6 strands and stacked them together to make 3 strands and started braiding again. When I got to the end I tied a square knot and presto, perfect to avoid those sharp teeth.
She is pretty easy to redirect, I was just having trouble with toys because she gets so close to get them. She kept missing the toy and getting my arm. This works perfect, gives my arms the much needed distance.
    The result...

Thats the kind of tuggy I used in flyball. They worked great, especially since the dogs coming back were running full speed and often missed the tug. You definitely need that length! They are wonderful and cheap toys to make, great idea to keep a biting puppy at bay!

We have a few basic braided ones too and the dogs love them for playing by themselves or with each other.

This one is getting older but they still like it. It was made by @MeadowCat

That's awesome @GennyB!! I thought about making something like this with paracord, since it's so durable but wasn't sure how it would work out. Yours looks great!!

I think paracord would be great for an older dog. The fleece seems to work really well for puppies.
I have experimented with them and you can do lots of different things with them. You can use a ball(s) with a hole and lace them through the braid. Today I stuffed some treats in the braids and the girl went nuts.

That's a great idea. The dogs got a Hol-ee roller for Christmas and that would be fun to play around with too.

Nice, I'll let my dad teach me some useful knots to make one.

I should try to make something like this out of rope for Howard too since he loves to shred it. I know regular untreated rope would work but I'd like to make some kind of a split at the top to tie it to his cage.

Could you just cut the rope longer, make it a loop and tie the ends in a knot on the outside of the top of the cage?

I was thinking about that too and it would be easier, I guess.

Put a carabiner on it. That's what I use with my birds toys. :)

I do have a bunch of them I've saved from his previous toys so that would probably be a good plan.

My birds would chew the area I tied first then the toy would drop on bottom of cage and they would crap on it. They are cruel to me like that. Hahahaha
