First timer with a Doberman tail repair

So I’m new to Dobermans and when I got my puppy he had he’s tail wrongly docked so I took him to the vet to get a repair and I just wanted to know if the repair was donde correctly. Vet told me to take bandage off the next day of surgery and this is how it looks on the second day. I don’t know if the corner was left a little open for draining

No I don’t have his email and I tried to call but the vet is closed already I can take him tomorrow or should I got to another vet just to check?

I don't think they would have left it open...perhaps a stitch popped off. Are you able to email the vet your photo? I would have the vet who did the repair look at it.

I would have the vet who did the procedure look at it. If not able to get in there, then another vet....sometimes the vet will list their email on their website. If you find one, send a note asking for a response, then follow up by phone first thing tomorrow when they open.
It's not horrible, but you don't want your little one to start chewing on it, that will lead to infection.
Keep us posted!

Yes I’ve been watching him all day so that he don’t lick olor chew on it, but will surly take him tomorrow to get it checked and let you guys know how it goes. Thank you!

Welcome from Minnesota, USA!

It does look like he popped a stitch so it's probably just a matter of fixing that and it doesn't look serious to me.

You should start a new post in the introduction section to tell us more about you and your pup and photos are always a bonus.

Yes. Looks like he popped a stitch- unfortunately, back to the vet.

Good luck and please keep us updated

Hey guys, I took Enzo to the vet today, and they told me he had a clot and a buildup of blood. They drained it and bandaged it again. They gave me antibiotics and cream for his tail to use when I remove the bandage tomorrow.

When I take the bandages off tomorrow I’ll keep you posted on how it’s looking!

Glad you were able to have him looked at....he is darling! Thanks for the update! Look forward to his recovery.

Hey guys I have a question on the healing of the tail repair. When completely healed does the tail shape goes back to normal?

Possibly, hematomas (what it sounds like based on your description) can take a while to resolve. But it was drained so that will help. When fully healed and not swollen, I think that the tail will be less misshapen. When he's mature any abnormalities if shape may be well covered by his adult coat rather than super fine puppy fur.

Hey guys wanted to give you and update on Enzo tail is already looking nice and better. Stitches were taken off and tail shape is starting to go back to normal.
