Special Needs Dobermans - Helping Owned AND Rescue Dobes!

Welcome to doberman911.org, the website for Special Needs Dobermans (SND). We are an organization of people with a common goal of helping senior and special needs Dobermans. That need may be financial or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans. These Dobermans may be shelter rescues or they may already be much loved companions with a special need. Financial aid may be through donations or through avenues such as online auctions. Every precaution will be taken to assure that the need is real.

Doberman911 and San Antonio Doberman Advocacy and Rescue have come together recently for an extreme case of cruelty to one of our beloved doberkids...

This one sure hit close to home, as many of you know hrd and I are members of the DPCSA and SADAR so this is a reality to close to turn away. The coordinators are members of our club as well and truely have hearts of gold. This baby had someone waiting for her before she was even released from ACS (which should have been sooner) She is safe now and in SADAR's care and will be taken to a specialist and receive the best care available.

I received this email from one of the Rescue coordinators for SADAR earlier today and spoke with her on the phone shortly after.

How does this face, full of joy and innocence become...

this... Emaciated, dumped, run over, shot 5 times and landed in the pound less than 15 months later??

To say that Irma has had a run of bad luck would be the understatement of the millennium! But she has been kissed by DobeAngels now! With Margo with San Antonio Doberman Advocacy& Rescue, SND, and YOU... we are going to change her life for the better. Margo has been saving the name, Irma for a sad-faced Doberman, and when she walked into the shelter, this young girl fit the bill. This beautiful DobeGirl had been run over by a very cruel poor excuse for a human individual, who then took out a pellet gun and shot at her five times to make sure she was dead. Irma survived but picked up by Animal Control, she was left at the shelter to fend for herself - in awful pain and in danger of being euthanized. No one bothered to claim her and though she was microchipped there was no response to that lead either. Her first stroke of good luck was to be noticed on Petfinder by Louise Perry of Cape Cod Rescue and Healthdobes. Louise contacted Margo of SADAR and the quest to Save Irma began.

Once the mandatory 5-day incarceration was over, Margo took Irma immediately to the vet and x-rays showed that she had a fractured pelvis and was in need of surgery. Louise continued her help by making a plea for funds on her own list until the fundraising process could begin at SND. Irma is now getting the pain relief she desperately needs, along with the love and food this emaciated girl deserves. The toughest hurdle to overcome with her injuries is that they were not treated for over a week and so a specialist in orthopedic surgery is needed to relieve Irma's pain and to have her hip repaired so that she can regain the use of her leg and have full mobility.

Irma's surgery had been scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2009. When she arrived at the orthopedics specialty clinic and was evaluated by the surgeon, he determined that the fracture was too old and that the best course of action was to wait six weeks to see how much healing would occur in that period and then she would be re-evaluated. This was devastating bad news for Irma and for Margo who had hoped that Irma's nightmare would be coming to an end real soon. She was sent home to confinement in a crate and pain medications. Margo will be seeking another opinion with the x-rays in hand. Everything that can be done for her should be done as soon as is possible! She has suffered enough!

This is where you come in… Irma needs your donations to help pay for the surgery and the physical therapy that is sure to follow as soon as her pelvis heals. Please consider giving what you can, no amount is ever too small! You will have this beautiful DobeGirl's, Miss Irma La Douce, gratitude forever.
SADAR and SND would appreciate any help that you can send her way. Won't you please help us make a difference in the rest of Miss Irma's life? Please help dear Miss Irma by sending in a tax-deductible donation online by using the PayPal button below, or by mailing one in. No donation is too small; every little bit will help

Did they prosecute that worthless piece of sh+t who shot her???? If they need the job done, call me, I've got a gun! I've heard it's protocol, but why must they wait 5 days to do anything?? Even pain killers? oh man...

Thanks for posting this Dela. That poor girl, how can people be so cruel :(

She reminds me so much of Kali in the face, this really is hitting close to home for me. I just want to give her a great big hug and play fetch with her :(
