Hello,

I got a Doberman puppy he is 6 Months old and he was cropped at an age of 12 weeks. The breeder taped him but when I got him I didn’t taped him for a long time now I have taped his ears for one week for the first time. Is it possible that it is too late because of the cartilage? Please help me

You definitely still have time to post his ears! Stick with it and the ears will start to stand soon. Make sure not to give much downtime without the posts in. Just long enough to clean the ears and change the posts.

It may take a little longer for them to be fully finished. Don’t be surprised if you have to post until he’s around a year old, but it also depends on the length of the crop.

Welcome from Minnesota, USA.

As stated, you can probably still get them to stand if you're consistent with it. What taping method are you using?

He has a middle crop.

Do you mean a medium crop? That's what my Doberman has. If so, you could get lucky and still get them to stand, but you don't have time to waste.

Can you provide a picture of your pup so we can see the ears?

6 months of no posting ears is stretching it…it really depends on the maturation of present ears. I would definitely post them up and give them a chance.

Another issue you may encounter is his ears have be free for a long time now and he most likely will not be happy having a foreign object stuffed in his ears.

Post his ears- post all the way down in the bell…then distract him with a walk, play, mental stimulation, etc…anything to get his mind off the post in his ears. As he becomes used to them, his aggravation, shaking and scratching at them should diminish.

Good Luck.
