So I came across this dog food and before I buy it, I had some concerns. First off, the pea protein is in the ingredient list but it is near the bottom. If its that far down on the list does it matter as much? I've never heard of this brand either, but I also didn't find any recalls for it.
Black Gold Dog Food
There are a few different kinds but I like how much food I get for that price. I did a little bit of reading here and it seems like a few of you are advocates for fish based protein, or at least advocate for the sensitive stomach and skin formulas. It has ocean fish meal and salmon oil. I'm hoping it will be good for heart health as well as make my boy's coat shiny. It also says for all life stages (including the puppy formula...? Anyway...). As much as I like that dog food specifically, I am a little concerned with the only 399kcal/cup. Is that low? The chicken protein one and the beef protein (original explorer formula) have higher kcals per cup. How much is recommended for a growing male puppy that will remain intact until at least 18 months of age, possibly to 2 years (then I will have to, to honor my puppy contract).
