AKC Obedience Dumbbells

I need to order an AKC size dumbbell to practice with - I see they come in wood & plastic and also many sizes. Average size for adult Dobe? Do you prefer wood or plastic? I read that they are less likely to mouth on the plastic ones, but are they weighted equally? Favorite brand or place to order from? Thanks for any input/advice!

I got plastic for Clarke when we were in Open....I remember practicing with someone's wood one when he was young; but don't remember if it was more weighty? Mine is the 'invinc a bell". 5" long 3" tall...and the bar is about 3" long. Hope this helps!

We used a wooden one ordered from Jemar Pet Supplies in Maryland. I used to live near that brick & mortar and the woman was in the dog club. This was years ago, but I thought I'd throw out a plug for the business.

Edit to say my search ended with an article about them closing a few years ago... I do like supporting small businesses though!
