5 Training Techniques NEVER to Use on a Doberman

Not a trainer here...and relative dobe noob,
so watching with interest the replies of more experienced.

Re:Keeping them at side with tight pull/grip:
1. I recall talking to a wardog trainer/handler who had done several tours on point(mals)-
To amp them up, they hold the dog at a straining posture...like cocking the gun.

2. Another insight from BO lessons from a K9 trainer with 40 yrs in LEOs training- leash on heel has a small j- shaped half loop in leash, enough to do a wrist pop on prong, but never straining, on heel or walk.

3. Here is another useful resource:

I need help!!! We bred our American male to a European female, and took three puppies, one female and 2 males. Everything was great til 8 mths old. We are now having to separate. Carma Jean gets along with Tanker B, so they are together and bid daddy Zues and Caos are together. I'm so sad cause I want everyone as a pack together. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome from Minnesota!

JMO but littermate syndrome is a real thing and same sex aggression is a real thing as well and 7 - 9 months is typically when it starts happening. Unfortunately it can't be trained out of them so you might always have to keep them separated from here on out.

I'm not trying to be mean or offend you but I have to ask........What were you thinking?
If you have gone as far as breeding surely you have researched the breed, no? They are known for both same sex aggression as well as littermate syndrome. You as a "breeder" should have known that and been prepared.

There has gotta be a Way
There may be but it will take lots of diligence and hard work on your part. All of you, meaning the people in the household as well as the dogs will need training. I would put my money a dog behaviorist and not a trainer. A behavorist would be more apt to teach the humans how to see triggers and changes in behavior that you can change BEFORE a fight breaks out.

That’s five Dobermans you are trying to handle….
You need to look at finding other homes for all but a female and male before a major fight happens and someone gets seriously hurt.

Life of crate and rotate is not fun for anybody…no way to live a life.
