Hey everyone,
Not necessarily a question but a general statement and thanks. I joined this forum or group years ago when I had questions about my black and brown dobe. He has stubborn and also had the most sensitive skin, this site was very helpful for that. He is now 12 and I recently found out (after some suspicions) that he was lymphoma. There isn’t much that I was able to do for him but keep him happy which I think I’ve done pretty well. Unfortunately I have to get him put down this Thursday. It’ll be done on his favorite sunning spot, the front deck. Saying goodbye to my best friend in the world is going to be so hard but I wanted to thank everyone on here for the advice and help along the way. I won’t be going anywhere, I have a 1.5 year old female who is a complete menace to society. Likely to say I’ll be back with even more questions. I will be spoiling him with burgers and sweets until his final seconds. Much love everyone, give your good girls & bois a little extra love today.

I'm so sorry you're having to say goodbye to him but you gave him a great 12 years.

What a wonderful life and testimony....I know your heart is broken. Glad you have a "menace" (What I called our boy as a pup!) to keep you moving! Thank you for sharing your boy with us. Please don't listen to the doubt in your mind....it is the best thing we can do for them when they are ill, and they depend on us to make that decision.

12 years wow! What an amazing 12 it’s been for both of you I’m sure. As bad as lymphoma is I’m glad to hear it’s not DCM choosing and instead you get to help make it awesome for him until his last nap.

Please give him a double burger for Mars.

So sorry to read this. You had a great run together!
This last part is always the most difficult part of having dogs in our lives.

Some folks say good by.
Some folks say so long. For now.

I’d like to think that last one is true.
If so we can all look forward to another, even better run with the whole pack some day.

Yeah everyone was shocked he made it this long with cancer. He had the best years but definitely glad it was not DCM.

Thank you all again. So much. It’s been hard for myself and my pupp but we’re hanging in there. I went to the lake yesterday on my own after a long day. I went to a spot i used to always take graham and sit with him. A giant butterfly showed up and was flying around and hanging out on me for minutes. Definitely made me happy. I’ll be seeing him again one day ❤️

There's always that sign and that one is beautiful.

I’m very late joining this. But I just wondered how you are doing? I also lost my senior 14 yr 3 mo th old dobie, but to stroke and very bad paralysis. It crushed me. I had to leave the breed for a cycle, went to Rottweilers. Got a brother and sister, they were great, until Rex got epilepsy at 2.5 and had to be put down at 5.5. Then his sister, out of the blue went into status epilepticus like her brother and also had to be put down. We grieved, my wife and I, so hard. But we need dogs in our lives. They bring such joy, such life, such love. So, we now have a red and rust female and black and rust male. 4 months now. Rough sometimes, but oh so worth it. So rewarding and such improvement in them. Hope you are well.
