Great thanks...every person that posts saying that makes me feel a little better lol. I still fight the urge to pull the box of tampons back out and start the taping process all over again :( Her ears move quite a bit.....especially when playing....they are able to stand up whenever she is...
Ok perfect....thanks for the response. I guess I will stop stressing about it....I just keep thinking about all that time and money put into making sure her ears stand and then reading the horror stories about ears that flopped over and wouldn't stand anymore. Like I said, I like the way they...
Hello all. Raven is now almost 8 months old.....and I still have ear questions lol. When comparing pictures from now, to when her posts were first removed permanently (around 6 months), it looks like the top third of her ears have a slight bend. It is more pronounced when she pins her ears...
Yeah, she still goes to the door and paces, looking at me every time she walks by me during her circle walk. I didn't need the bell...just thought it would be something fun to teach her.
Yeah, you can't help but laugh at them....sometimes too smart for their own good. Now she panics because the bell is not there, running in circles trying to find it so she can ring it. The funny part is that look they give you after ringing it (or in your case, pointing).
Lol true....well I have removed the bell....problem solved right? She now searches the house looking for the bell (which she found on the counter), and carries it to the door :(
We don't have a fenced in yard unfortunately which means everytime she rings, I put her on a leash, get dressed for winter, and take her out. We do have Invisible Fence but haven't trained her yet since the yard is buried in snow. I will start that training in the spring. I am not sure why I...
Anybody train your Dobermans to ring a bell to go outside? My 7 month old is successfully trained and rings the bell anytime she needs to go out. Unfortunately, she now rings it constantly so she can go out to play lol. How do you refuse to take her out without confusing her when she actually...
Yeah, I hear ya....thanks for the response. I actually did leave them in through 6 months, and then removed them. I recently put them back in for a few weeks to strengthen the top 1/3 (she is almost 7 months old). Wasn't flopping, but seemed weaker than some other adult Dobi ears I looked at...
I know exactly what you mean....I never knew how much work having a dog with cropped ears was......soooooo glad it is done. I was surprised at how much they could move their ears as well......when she is excited, she pins them almost all the way back.
Thanks everyone :)
Max Hawk....I first read your reply and thought it said they look crooked......I had to go back and look at the pictures several times, panicked, to see what was wrong with her ears lol.
Hello all.....here is Raven when we got her, and a couple of recent pictures today. She has been without posts for 4 days now. She is almost 6 months old and appears to be done teething. The ears have been religiously posted since her ears were cropped. How do they look? Anything that needs...
Thanks everyone....he is actually a she though :) I stressed over her ears for weeks....finally got the posting process figured out. Even better, Raven has learned the process and sits pretty still through the whole thing.
Here is a current picture of Raven at about 5 months. Posts are out while they are being changed :) Thanks to everyone here for all the help getting me to this point lol.
Is there any harm in prematurely removing the ear posts to see if the ears will remain standing? Will this set back the whole process at all if the ears start to fall, and I then repost? The ears have been posted for about 1.5 months and have not had the posts out for more than a day at the...
I have hardwood in half the house (which scratches easy) and just recently put down a high end laminate in the other half which is supposed to be scratch resistant and spill resistant. We will see what happens :) I had carpet before but trying to house train two puppies at the same time kinda...
