It is a DNA test. The Vetgen test.
You are probably thinking of the test the vet does before surgeries, which is different than a real vWD test and not near as accurate.
The vWD test can be done before 6 months old. It is a gene test. Swab. Doubt this was done though. It is done thru VetGen and costs 140, unless doing a clinic. Most affected dogs are not clinically affected. But both parents should be tested I agree.
