It’s so good to see the other babies’ pics! I wish the others had sent some. I’d be interested to see Sass since she and Gretel were the two smallest ones.
For training treats, I use FreshPet Select chicken food roll. Like Doberman Gang, I cube it and portion it out in snack-sized ziplock bags then keep the bags in the freezer. They thaw overnight in the refrigerator. I get them at Wal Mart in the refrigerated pet food section. They’re a LOT...
It’s been too long since I’ve been on DCF! Happy New Year, everyone! I never got around to getting Christmas cards made, so I had New Year cards made with a photo from Christmas Eve. I hope you all have a healthy and happy year!
 My father was a vet and this was the attitude of the other vet clinic in my hometown. Needless to say, there were many upset pet owners when my dad retired. Those are the ones who are in it just for the money.
Is she in a solo practice? If so, she can’t be open 7 days a week. Yes, it’s...
Gretel will be 7 months this week, and I’m using a slip lead collar/leash for walks. It’s helped to teach her not to pull more than snapping a flat collar did. Of course, if she starts rebelling, I’ll graduate to a prong collar, but so far, so good.
Granted, I should’ve posted this weeks ago, but in thinking of what costume to put on Gretel, I did a search here and found some cute pics scattered throughout the site. So, I thought it would be fun to have a thread for Halloween costumes...plus it would help me with ideas! Can’t...
I couldn’t find zonas locally, either. The 3M Nexcare Durable Cloth tape (has the green 3M label printed on the inside of the roll) is at Wal-Mart and works great. Well enough that you’ll need unisolve or Telesis to remove the posts.
When I first started posting Gretel (after her ears were healed from the sutures), I put her on the kitchen counter and taped down a Tupperware-type lid and smeared peanut butter on it to keep her occupied while I posted. The first couple of times, it took me 10 minutes to post, so i had to have...
She has a sweet face! I see no one has responded, so I’ll chime in
I haven’t given vitamin C, but I’d think it would be until you’re through posting. From everything I’ve read on here, 5 1/2 months would be very early for a long show crop to be done. Gretel is over 6 months and hers stand, but...
As far as what’s causing the sores...it sounds like you might be in a viscous cycle with the head shaking causing you to need glue. The underlying cause could be that the posts aren’t deep enough. I’m far from an expert on here, so others may have had pups that shook their heads no matter what...
One was found in SE Georgia near Brunswick a couple of years ago, but I hope that was from some idiot who released it and not the population growing north. I wouldn’t know the difference in a cane toad and a regular everyday toad, unfortunately, but we do have a pellet gun handy. I guess an...
She looks like she did great letting you post her! It’s not easy figuring out how much force to use to push the posts down into the ear, but you’ll get the feel for it and will definitely get faster at it.
Keeping the bridge more loose will also help you determine when she no longer needs it -...
Can you post the pics here? Are they extremely painful to the touch? That's a clue whether they're hematomas. When our golden got a hematoma after an ear infection, they weren't red but blue from the pooled blood. She'd whimper when she scratched and her entire ear was extremely sore. It...
