I would like some advice on which e-collar to get. Is there a reason to spend $200 on an e-collar. I see some on Amazon with good reviews for much less. What will I be getting for the extra money?
Thanks
I like your idea, thanks. I think I am going to go with it and try and teach them the difference. If it seems confusing I guess I could change the name.
I currently have a Maltipoo named Rosie and will be bringing home a female Doberman in a month. I really like the name Jessie for the Doberman. Do you guys think "Jessie" and "Rosie" are too similar and maybe confusing for the dogs? I am particularly worried about the Maltipoo, actually, since...
I know VERY LITTLE about the e-collar, but I am curious about it. What exactly are you using it for? What have been the biggest benefits for you? Also, I wouldn't want it on the dog all the time. Does the dog get to the point where it no longer needs it? Is that the idea? Thanks
I just got off the phone with the puppy trainer and she said they always have the dog owners provide proof of first shot plus 7 days before allowing the pup into the course. It still makes me nervous, though... but my pup will have had two shots before classes begin.

I am picking up my male doberman in the middle of June. I am SO EXCITED!! I want to make sure I get the training thing done right -- from the start.
I will be taking the dog to a puppy socialization course which consists of 5 1-hour sessions starting at 9 weeks and may continue in a few of the...
Thanks for all the great comments!!
I will be going with another NA doberman thanks to the helpful insight from all of you. I am located in the Northwest and have my eyes on several breeders in the Oregon/Washington area. I do have my name on a couple of waiting lists but I don't have anything...
It is the "high energy" part that seems to be more associated with the euro bred dogs that concerns me a bit. Does high energy mean the dogs don't calm down very well in the house? Or that you have to work the hell out of them to be satisfied? Can you explain what "high energy" means to you and...
I owned a female NA doberman many years ago and loved this dog to death. She had the typical doberman traits, but seemed a little lower energy than some of the dogs I see people describing. Also, she had no protective instinct whatsoever.
I am wondering if getting a euro dog would maybe give...
This breeder is located in Washington State, not Oregon. I am new on this forum and can't figure out how to edit my post so I replied to it. Sorry for any confusion.
