UPDATE Teddy has allergies which was causing the licking. Unfortunately it coincided with the foot injury which means it took us a while to figure it out! He has had 2 cytopoint injections, but we are alway wondering if it could be a flea allergy. Thanks for all your help.
Thank you obbanner! If things don’t improve I will probably buy one of those muzzles. He has a nasty habit of finding cooked chicken bones in bushes while we are out so it might also help that too!
The vet didn’t check if something was in embedded however he is licking completely different spots and completely different feet from the original injury.
My 19 month old male Doberman, Teddy, injured two of the pads on his feet, one month ago. We think he may have cut them on glass during a walk but are not sure. He had to wear a cone and go on antibiotics. His original wounds have now healed however he can still get at his feet and has created...
I am crate training our 11 month old puppy, us sing the suggestions I found on the forum. He’s been in the crate for an hour and hasn’t settled. He’s alternating between furiously scratching the plastic floor, typing to chew the wire, licking the floor and crying. He’s panting too, but not...
For the last two nights I be given him half his dinner in a treat dispenser inside. Sounded like he was destroying the house every time the thing went flying into a wall We’ve done more obedience, but it’s still happening. He’s just not calm inside. In the end I couldn’t handle the constant...
That’s a great idea! He loves sliding his food bowl across the concrete, so he’d love chasing things around the room. We will just have to turn the volume on the TV up!
It was a quick fb reply and he didn’t give an exact reason, just thought using the place command would be better as I’d mentioned that he cruises around the room like he’s looking for trouble!
I have a nine month old puppy who likes to dig at the timber floor boards. Does this happen to other people? I’m not sure why he does it, or how to stop it, short of having him on a leash when he’s inside, but I’d rather not do that all the time. He also licks the floor. Could it be boredom...
Thanks for the replies. Yes, Teddy is crate trained but I don't feel comfortable leaving him on it for more than three hours. He stays in the run for up to four hours which gives him more room. Our yard is very secure with a double gate.
Hi there. I’m from Australia and we have a beautiful 5 month old black/tan male, Teddy. I homeschool our youngest son and therefore we are home for the vast majority of the week. We do have a small run in the back of the yard which Teddy happily go in with a nice treat when we will be away for a...
