Agility - just one more way to have fun

Thank you @LifeofRubie - I love your videos of Rubie!!! That first one, wow. Rubie just sails over the jumps, looks effortless. Maybe because the spacing is so wide between them? We need a new sport called steeplechase - like a Fast Cat with hurdles - LOL Lots of good ideas. I did some...

Agility - just one more way to have fun

To add, I restarted her over those jumps with handfuls of treats after each one so she wouldn't take off toward the fence. (she did that 3 times). Once she could jump over and stop for a treat instead of running toward the fence barking at the onlookers we added the second jump with treats and...

Agility - just one more way to have fun

Here's when Asha got crazy with the jumping on me and we all got the giggles. But notice how she still jumps when I ask her to. I promise this won't happen again or any hope of doing agility will be dust. But it's so funny & she's so happy I'm glad I got it on film.

Agility - just one more way to have fun

Here's the 3 seconds of video of her leaving the jump to go bark at the "audience". The gal taking the video turned it off, thinking I just wanted video of us doing the jumps. SOUND UP.

Agility - just one more way to have fun

That's a terrific run @Two Dobes! What a happy team you presented! Yeah, I'm still laughing at todays antics. I realized my dog really isn't normal/mainstream and is extremely reactive and it's not just all bad training on my part. (I have to quit self-bashing and start laughing, right?) One...

Agility - just one more way to have fun

:rofl::rofl::facepalm::facepalm::whistle::nono::scratch: I'll have to tell more details later, and with my slow internet I can't get the video to You Tube until later... but the title of this thread is perfect, I just didn't realize how much fun a dog could have. To my expense of course...

Advice - new 3-month old puppy not pooping

I forgot to mention about water. Asha drank an insane amount of water as a puppy. And I let her have all she wanted whenever she wanted. After about a year or so she drank more like a normal dog. She did take longer to go all night without having to go out to pee, but I just think if a dog is...

Advice - new 3-month old puppy not pooping

Welcome to the group. Everything that @LifeofRubie said! What I missed initially is playing inside. My puppy would get some crazy playing in, everyone having fun, then she'd calm down and I'd think "oh nice, she's going to go nap". Nope, she'd go pee. So like Rubie said, EVERYthing: sleeping...

Whoa~! Rein 'em in here and show your horses! 2021

You are thinking it out very well. They ARE ridiculously expensive, for sure! The pleasures of horses are endless and I really think horse people are born with a certain gene. I was in love with horses since I learned to talk, but was in a non-horsey family - they didn't know a thing about a...

Whoa~! Rein 'em in here and show your horses! 2021

I had at least one horse in my life since I was 16 and ended up making it my vocation for many of those years. Trained race horses for a living and rode my personal horse in endurance (50 miles in less than 12 hours cross country) was my hobby on the side. My last horse died in 2019 and I don't...

    Bullmastiffs

Your only option would/should be the super short crop that wouldn't require posting. Ear cartilage is different from dog to dog even within the breed, but long pendulous ears tend to be set lower on the side of the head and may have very little strength to stand. One of the reasons in the...

Looking for European breeder working dog

Also if you want to compete in working dog sports you can't have dock/crop in most of Europe if I understand it correctly. Many serious working dog breeders in the U.S. are NOT doing dock/crop if they think they will have puppies of world championship level because otherwise their dog would not...

    Cold weather potty training???

I found potty training in the winter (the night times especially) went really fast. In the day if it was cold and sunny she would be happy to play. I only used a jacket if we were going to be standing still in the cold (like our puppy class)

    Barking and Kicking

To note, Asha didn't do this until she was pretty mature, at least 18 - 20 months old. Only seen it a couple of times after a poop, but quite often when barking. So Ragnar does this while barking too? I think it's pretty common after a poo, but barking & marking I'd only read about, never seen...

    Barking and Kicking

She is fit - Last time she got weighed at the vet she was 67 and was a little light because she had colitis and I'd cut her food back to small servings of chicken & rice, so I think about 70 is her best weight. I think coyotes are lurking because she's in heat. Haven't seen them, but both dogs...

    Help please - SSA

Dobermans are rough playing as puppies and as adults. So even if she is just playing she's likely to make any housemate cross. The puppy has to learn obedience and minding you, and tie her leash to your waist so she can't torment your older MinPin. Could be forever that they aren't allowed to be...
