Random Pet Photo of the Day - 2024

Oh yes! Serious crying and whining once we are in the driveway. She grabs the filled cup and takes it into the back seat. If it is not eaten after the 2 mile drive home, she picks it up and carries it into the house. Never spills a drop!

    Doberman Aggresion

We have been crazy busy, and I just read through this. If I have learned anything owning a Doberman, after a 66 year lifetime of other dog breeds, it is that Dobermans are just different. They are tough, and sensitive, and crazy smart. They are wired differently and must be handled differently...

Random Pet Photo of the Day - 2024

I remember those pajama walks! I had a huge plaid robe that kept me warm for winter night time potty breaks.

Have to smile at the name Vito. Had some Italian inlaws that were pretty fiesty. Imagining Vito will be likewise!😁

Do dobermans take a long time to cool off?

Sasha loves a cool day with time spent laying on the heat vent. That said, she cuts off playtime in the heat and lays flat out too. It always gives me an undercurrent of concern, as DCM is always a fear. In the long run, listen to your dog and know your dog.

    Pre-meal barking

We have 2 crates/cages, one in our room upstairs and one in my husband’s woodworking shop in the barn. The first year or so of Sasha’s life, the second cage was in our family room where most of our living occurs. Naps, time outs, and early bedtimes were initiated with that family room crate, as...

Recommendations with Bad Gas and Dog food

Bunny poop (dog crack) does it for Sasha. Try one thing at a time, or you won’t know which works.

    What's YOUR dog afraid of?

We have a four foot tall plastic gnome that was an old unfortunate holiday decoration. That gnome has appeared in showers, my kid’s beds and has been found peering, lit, from upstairs windows. My husband decided Sasha should meet the gnome. Gnomie stood at the top of the stairs when poor Sasha...

    Can Dogs Sense “Bad” People?

I listened to a man whose background was in preventing child abductions/self defense training etc. He said the same thing about children; that they understand “that funny feeling” one gets when something feels wrong about a person or situation. He said adults lose that ability sometimes, or...
