    AWDF day two tracking

Well we had a rough 3 days. Day 1 obedience, Blaze breaks his down. Minus 10 before we even get started. Heeling wasn’t his best but satisfactory, a little too hoppy. Then stands on the moving sit, crawls on the running down and walks on the running stand. All insufficient exercises. Dumbbell on...

Human emotional support and behavior help please

It is amazing to me how many so called trainers recommend these harnesses or head collars as a training solution for pulling. These are just another aversive tool that causes discomfort when the dog pulls. This is the same as any other training collar. Many dogs will fight to avoid these...

Zorzi Family Del Littorio Kennel Snohomish Wa

The United Doberman Club Nationals is in Oakville, WA this year. May 23rd thru the 28th. Not sure how far that is from you but would be a great place to meet lots of breeders from showline to working lines. You could also meet lots of Doberman owners that could answer questions and help direct...

Invisible Electric Fence for Dogs - Would you?

This is so true. Most of the time our Do remand go out long enough to potty, maybe check the perimeter of the fence then are right back at the door to come inside. They are definitely dogs that want to be with their humans vs. just hang outside.

Invisible Electric Fence for Dogs - Would you?

I would go with the 4 ft fence as well. As said above it is more about keeping others out. Our dogs can clear a 6 ft fence but don’t, it’s still all training. We had an invisible fence 20-25 years ago, it worked pretty well with lots of training and continued reinforcement training. Most of the...

Am I missing something with ear cropping?

No need to post until stitches are out and edge is healed. We never use a collar or pillow either. Just try to watch your puppy and discourage scratching if he does it. Cone or pillow will more than likely make him want to scratch at it. Here is a video of pups tha day after crop at 7 weeks...

5 Week Old Pup Looks a Bit Timid – Indicative, or Too Young to Tell Anything?

I have done evaluations on working litters usually first is at 5 weeks, then 7, 9 and then at 12 weeks before pups go to their new homes. How much puppies changes in this time is incredible, what you see at 5 weeks can vary greatly in behavior in each two week evaluation. If those are the two...

    Peeing in his crate

Also if your crate size is too big it will give them the opportunity to pee inside the crate. They should just have enough room to lay inside the crate. They make dividers to section off bigger crates to allow for puppies to grow into bigger size crates, so that might be an option.

    Peeing in his crate

Feed them at the same time in their kennels after they both have been let out to potty. Then puppy should go back out again after eating. Take him out to potty every time in leash only play after he potties. I pick a location in the yard to potty so it becomes a trained location. This makes...

Can a Dog Teach Another Dog to Whine?

Imprinting is always a possibility, we use it sometimes in training to help young dogs. It with building drive in dogs with lower drive but not always.

    E-Collar Contact Points

I always swap the cheaper points that typically come with ecollars. (Plastic with just a metal tip) I prefer the surgical all SS points. I use different lengths on my training collars than the collar he wears at home. The double box training collar has 5/8”, his in house collar has the 3/8”...

    E-Collar Contact Points

It keeps the contacts in place. Without a bungee you would need to put the collar on loosely to allow for swelling during training. Typically during protection the dogs will swell up, similar to a pump up when in the weight room. A tight fitted collar will actually get even tighter during a...

    E-Collar Contact Points

It is not as much about length with Dobermans as it is about having a bungee collar.
