This is true for me too.

Anyone heard of or try "Pet Gentle"

I had the good luck to be involved with horses as a dad of daughter riding hunter-jumper. Way too many stories but, yes: my best tip learned here has been "learn from the dog in front of you"...and I have lots more to do.

    Opinions on conformation?

Great answers. Very complete and concise. SAR to find alive but lost, or corpse recovery? Lots more to followup on but will wait a bit so I'm giving others a chance to jump in.

    Opinions on conformation?

TY! @Nordika Excellent explanation with the pic of forechest, broad enough but not barrel chested to get in the way of movement. How do you @Nordika select for proof on working line to fit the function you seek, in your environment? I can see the athleticism, and curious how you quantify...

Anyone heard of or try "Pet Gentle"

Thanks @JanS and @Sunje its the experience delivered with discretion and by anecdotes that AI can never replace, only refer to...so your replies have far reaching impact. Good tip on Warwicke method. Horses and dogs are energy beings. "Center myself first", goes a long way...

PS: again, just for discussion but I find a lot of good dog common sense on dobes matches what I read elsewhere:' https://www.germanshepherds.com/posts/9316931/

Anyone heard of or try "Pet Gentle"

PS: some research on independent reviews on device, marketing, "breaking adrenalin loop" is not positive... So this now segues into what to do instead, with more well regarded tools and methods. Here is one example-see this video...

So, having played some catchup on BYB Bonnie, in terms of training, understanding the breed, get better myself as an owner for next big dog...functional home and personal guardian that can accompany older folks on camping, trails, beaches, get along with others when well trained as pet...

    Weekend adventures (photo-heavy)

Wonderful photos in the forest and plsyground. I bet Asha would be good with kids. Have you ever considered Therapy Dog work? For those who like to proof the work there is a ribbon or two IIRC.

    Opinions on conformation?

Thanks @Nordika for the explanation of how judges speak to judges (or experienced owners) in a way that the average beginner finds confusing. This is the same video as whay @MikeP linked up thread, and so I've re-watched Fran S' review of history and how breeders tried to develop the standard...

    RIP Fedor Del Nasi

@adr Welcome from So Cal! Your profile lists Milan as your location. Are you a dobe owner, breeder or? Share more please and pics! Am I correct that Your premise seems to be that "you all are still thinking that people just want to create alarms?" Since this is your first post, resurrecting an...

    My method of ear posting

6 to 8 weeks to "full up and stable" is pretty good, iirc compared to some posts I've read on posting for months to a year of floppy long show crops on thin leathers... I'm keeping notes on what I read here and elsewhere so if I go with another Dobe puppy; cropped I'll be prepared. @Nordika I...

Good looking girl, the Rottie. Good stay. Wise to keep her from mixing it up and getting stomped.

    Doberman history tidbit

Very intereting. I wonder about Glenn Staines influence on Joanna Walker who wrote a key book on Dobermans https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20600633-the-doberman-pinscher and through her kennel "Mark Tays" donations of Dobermans as Pilot Dogs...

    Doberman Feet

I've been slowly educating myself on how the angles and so on mentioned in the breed standard are chosen based on function. Whats interesting to me is how the dobe was first put together from four or five (or more, depending on what you read on breed origin) is thus a mix of functions, and the...

    Doberman Feet

Yes I have had questions too, and defer to the experts. I've only heard of "cat feet" since reading deeply on the breed on this second one, but then again most of my dogs have been mutts, rescues, none ever shown, all from working/hunting breeds with a job to do, simply beloved pets, with home...
