Wow!! We went out today with a 20ft lead and what a difference it made! Once he felt one of us step on it he’d immediately stop and sit, I think just because he wasn’t used to the feeling maybe? We had such a good time, he didn’t try to run away or dodge at all!!
I'm not necessarily against e-collars but would prefer not to use one because we've made it this far without one and this is the only behavioral stint we have struggled with. We will use another ball as a lure but I refuse to throw it until he sits and he'll just prance around me in a circle...
Hi guys! I hope everyone has been well! I'm looking for some training advice! I had been in contact with what seemed like a great trainer in the last few weeks but with some school bills due I've been trying to work on the issues myself (and with my fiancé) because Mowgli sure does love learning...
Most definitely. The first week that he was home I was using a collar and he was very timid at first on the leash so would stop, and I’d have to tug him along. I didn’t like tugging at his neck so we started using the No Pull Freedom Harness at around 10 weeks of age, and he has been a dream on...
I’m not going to lie, I was pretty nervous going into this because of how many untrained dogs I know. I was so dedicated with training several times a day and still am, and it has really paid off. My parents visited and were so surprised at how well mannered he is! My biggest accomplishment in...
Hi everyone! I haven’t posted in a while but wanted to stop in and give an update on Mowgli.
I truly never believed I could be the owner of such an amazing animal. He is the most well behaved dog I’ve ever had. Of course he is still a “teenager” right now so he has days where he’s a little...
Hi guys! This post was a few months ago, Mowgli hasn’t had an accident in the house since around when I made this post. He’s an exceptional dog and I’m very proud☺️
I’m very much the same, so I’m thinking we will power through the doberteens :D
Here are some recent pics!
Sometimes he’s got a wonky ear and it’s not always the same one :
Here we are on our way to Estes Park:
I never imagined how much attention he would get as a Doberman. Everywhere we go...
We were doing our usual stroll around the block when two teenage boys standing with their bikes started making kissy noises at Mowgli, saying "hey puppy, hey doggie," and one of them started ringing his bike bell at him. Mowgli stayed in a heel the entire time and only just barely glanced over...
Important question - does he need his final parvo booster shot if he has already been positive for parvo? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don’t want him to get it if he doesn’t need it. We are going in today for that and for the lepto vaccine.
We had our first real snow here last night and got about three inches!! Needless to say Mowgli was not happy when he went out to use the bathroom this morning.. I was wondering at what point I need to put shoes on him or if it’s unnecessary? Can dogs get frostbite? It reaches -15 at the coldest...
Thank you again for introducing me to it! It’s sold at the same store I already purchase his food from, I am definitely going to be stocking up. I noticed it says it’s for both dogs and cats, so I got some for the cats to soften their food up a bit and they absolutely love it as well!
He’s totally back to his happy self and has completely solid stool. I am still adding the bone broth to his food.
No, it was a parvo test. He stuck something directly in his butt for the sample. The bill says Parvo PCR, and I am familiar with doing PCR in my lab and am fairly certain PCR can...
I believe so yes. The vet said not to be concerned if he still has soft poop over the next couple of days. He only pooped yesterday morning since my last post and it was soft but not the liquid diarrhea he was originally experiencing. He is acting like his normal self and even got a new sweater...
