Best way to test your dog and 'prove' commands is with distractions. That rottie helped make it a fair test in my opinion. Both of my girls would have failed that same test under those same circumstances if done today. This I am sure of... Dystopia would have laid down just like yours did...

Agathas neck has healed up nicely where the other girl tried to rip her throat out at her previous home. Can't really spot any of that damage any more since the hair grew back but... All of the other places on her face and head where the other dogs fangs poked holes in her - The hair did not...

I am positive that if I ever got doggie medical insurance they would never get sick again. Thats how my luck runs it seems. :(

Can't comment on the diaper cause don't know anything about it but... Having had one that was a frequent pad eater I can share some info / experiences with respect to that. Changing the pad more frequently helped a bunch here. Noticed pretty quickly that she would not eat lightly soiled pads...
