    PSA Nationals

@Ravenbird No Stassi is not from benchmark. I once started a thread looking for anyone with experience with benchmark dogs on here though. Just thinking about my next dog. Last year when I went to see Joel Monroe, he hadn’t worked with any of their dogs nor was he familiar with them. Even though...

    Grumbling in the truck

I was just going to record a video like this to share. It took almost two years for her to stop this in the school pickup line. She’s good with that scenario now. Heck I can even roll my window down at the school and she will just watch everyone. When she’s not kenneled in the back seat I try...

    What e-collar do you use?

Educator here. Mine’s used pretty much daily. Heck I used to even swim with the remote. There was a time I had to keep the remote in hand while swimming in the pool with Stassi (she could get a little over stimulated and bitey). One time I actually dropped it to the bottom of the deep end. No...

    Solid Recall

I’m just going to state for the record. I don’t believe in a practical impulsive recall. Theoretically I think you can achieve a reasonably reliable recall without any reinforcement tools in majority of situations. Especially if you have a low to medium drive dog. And have trained for it alot...

    Solid Recall

@Doberman Gang said once. (Paraphrasing) If you don’t train at the level of drive your dog is capable of reaching. Then you will not have compliance if your dog is turned up higher than what you train at. Meaning if you train and your dog is at a 3-4 for the reward, while maintaining...

    Morning bike ride

I took the pic in almost the same spot as the first picture at the top of the thread early summer. It’s 5500-5600 feet here. Mostly all the pines died off starting 10 years ago because of drought. And now the firs are dying because of a disease, all the way up to alpine levels. Pretty much...

    Morning bike ride

Yep it was around 29 I believe. The low lying areas were the moisture traps almost looked like it snowed. Such as the grass in the meadow.

    Morning bike ride

Little girls still in good shape, seeing as she hasn’t had much extended exercise for the last couple of months. Due to my harvest season. We only did 3 miles( I was too cold) haha

Not sure if have pockets or not!

The only notable dogs in her pedigree are the Serbian dogs. It’s amazing in low light how dark she can look.

Not sure if have pockets or not!

I agree with everyone about the ears. But I have some altabello in my female, 3-4 generations back. All their dogs have a similar look in the face. I take it that’s where your dog came from?

    Flint's ears

You can torbot the upper 2/3 of the post. And torbot the backside of the ear also, just shave the back of the ear before hand if you’re worried about ripping out hair.

    Nightmare Doberman

Most working line breeders I follow periodically breed in a show line dog. Or stud out one of their males to a showline breeder. So I think conformation is on their mind not with every litter but enough to show me they are aware of the importance of looks and conformation.

    Nightmare Doberman

Is it possible that this whole discussion could be chalked up to internet and social media distortion of reality? For example everyone wants the heavy bone, large head, reverse masked, dark sable shepherd. But don’t want the temperment that those genetic line’s produce. They want the unicorn...

    Nightmare Doberman

These people are only an hour north of where I live. They’re just a back yard breeder, they imported some dogs and started pumping litters out. I remember running across them when I was looking for my dog. I went on their social media at the time and videos of their dogs had corridos music as...

What was your pup parents and grand parents like? That’s usually the indicator of what kind of dog you got in front of you.

I’m sure if you were outside she would be turned up to 10. Add her ball, and the fact she understands pressure. I bet you’ve learned how to get her turned up really quickly? Haha I’ve only learned this technique over the last 6 months. I step into her. Then touch her feet with my shoe while I...

    Independent Antics

I can relate Stassi is the first dog I’ve owned, that I actively have to keep her from hurting herself. Generally from jumping off or over something too big. Lol

Zak George (et al.) vs. Dog Daddy

I’m lucky that very early on of owning Stassi I was able to fully realize in person, the glaring shortcomings of positive only. Especially if a trainer has turned it into an ideology. I needed another pair of eyes on Stassi when she was 4 months old after her reactivity started. It was the...
