Hi guys! First time dog owner…
So my boy is 4 months old i got him when he was 2 months and by far i have teached him to sit stay eat on command and leave it when he is chewing something in the yard. But my problem is that since i have teached him to eat on command he wont follow my hand with the treat inside when i try to lure him in new tricks like in lay down. I saw a video of a guy that let the food bowl on the ground and started giving command’s to hid dobbie but mine only stands in fron of the bowl without moving a muscle no matter what im doing or asking or saying, he just waits for me to say “eat”. Anyone ever been in this kind of situation? Am I doing things right? And when we go to the park (it has fence around) and i let him be free for a while i have to say come like 99 times for him to come near me.

I don't understand why you would want a command to eat. If you didn't mean to teach this, and want him to eat when you offer him food, just stop with the "eat" command and wait him out. Does he have a good appetite or is he a picky eater that needs encouragement?

For recall, you need to start at home just a few feet away with a leash, call him and when he comes give him food or a favorite toy or a tug that you can interact with him and make it fun. Get a 20 foot long line to do this out side in different places. Every time you say "come" or "here" and he ignores you, simply reel in the long line, and when he gets to you have a party of fun waiting for him. You must be the most fun thing for your dog! Interaction fun - playing tug or tossing ball is best because you are more involved. That way he looks to you as the source of fun.

We'd love to see pictures of your puppy!

Picky? This guy? Even if you put stones in his bowl he will eliminate em haha. I teached him to wait till i prepare food and then when i put the bowl on the ground he waits till i say “eat” the problem is he wont do anything else except wait in front of the bowl haha

If training him with food leave the bowl on the table, once training is over end with put his bowl down to finish. Instead of saying eat use a release work like yes or ok. That way during training he knows he is free to access the reward. Always mark each behavior before giving access to the reward.

Can i use “bravo” as a marking word? When he doest what i say like sit i tell him “bravo” thats the word in my language to say good or does it have to be short and quick like YES

I think you can use any word you want, or a clicker that makes a short sharp sound, but then you have to carry that in your hand. I think the less variation a word has the better. If your pup already understands Bravo, and it's easy for you, I see no reason to change. @Doberman Gang has way more experience than I do, so he might suggest why a shorter word is better.

Really nice looking puppy you have there!

I agree that you can use any word you want as long as you're consistent with it.

I use “so it’s Brav” or that’s good when they are correct but I want them to continue doing the exercise. I just use a quick yes or OK to release them from the behavior. But yes you can use any marker you want. Just be consistent.

This is something I bumped into
Like a give him the command and the the moment he fulfills it i say “bravo” and he’s like i did it so there is no reason to continue it haha like i say sit he sits i say bravo and he stands up and start doing other things. So you suggest i say bravo i give the command again and then i say like ok or yes?

It sounds as if bravo has become your release word. Your puppy hears "bravo" and thinks he did well and is now free to go. It is hard to explain over the internet without seeing what's going on and how you are rewarding and why the puppy thinks it's OK to get up. Or if you are saying it's OK for him to get up, or if you are saying you'd like him to stay sitting after you say bravo?

These are such smart dogs, sometimes we teach the wrong thing by messing up timing in our marker words and rewards by being a few seconds too late. If he understands sit when you say sit, then begin making it more challenging by adding duration - sit for 10 seconds, then 20 seconds before release. If this is a companion dog you can do it anyway you like. If you want to compete in a sport, then you need to gear his training toward what will be expected in trials. Building on duration and distractions and distance for the same command such as sit or down will prevent him from getting bored - these puppies love a challenge to learn! - Just keep lessons short and fun.

It can be any command you want. I just use two reward markers one is a release from behavior the other is to reassure that behavior is correct and to continue doing it. Helps when teach stays.

He can sit for long ive been practicing it like i say stay and he stays for like a minute but sometimes i say “bravo” and he stays till i say “come” and sometimes i say “bravo” meaning he did good and he just gets up

I don’t teach stay commands but my suggestion would be use one reward marker where they stay and you bring them the reward. ( you standing in front ask for sit. Give your marker (good, bravo whatever) they remain sitting and you feed in the position. Repeat and work duration. When you release your dog, you will give your release marker. Then become active moving the food in your hand away from your dog so they can chase it. This will teach one means continue wiring the other is a release from working
