Wow, what a tease!!!!! or maybe you are going to take both of them?!
Ohhhh, the waits gotta kill ya! Us too.Yes, it is out of these two. She hasn’t chosen which one just yet. I
I wouldn't stress about it, honestly. I didn't necessarily read into it that one is timid. More that she's like a cat and independent. Ripley is honestly very cat like. She is suuuuper loving but she does it on her terms! Otherwise she's entertaining herself by flipping toys in the air like a trained dolphin or nose poking everything. So one is kinda reserved and one is more outgoing.
which one do you think would be best for the Ragnar? No timid or being reserve in him, all asshat bull.
Look at that, you’re right, breeder never implied any timidness - I think that was our wishful thinkingI didn't necessarily read into it that one is timid. More that she's like a cat and independent.
I’m thinking of how Bacall and Bogie are together. Usually the females dominate, but Bogie is in charge and if I recall what @Tropicalbri's said, that he would even bully Bacall early on, they are litter mates though so maybe that made it different. Then I think it could be more like Albert and Phoebe - there is a video of her barking at him and suddenly he erupts in to adult sized barking lol, I can’t imagine a Dober puppy that won’t try to claim some power, but ultimately they would strike a balance.Guess I am really worried on how Ragnar is going to react.
He will lay down the rules as the mature adult. You will step in as both of their leaders when you feel either Ragnar is over correcting or puppy is being relentless. When she gets older and can full on play, things will then balance out on who is above the other.Guess I am really worried on how Ragnar is going to react.
I get sort of offended when Ripley doesn't want me to pet her. I try to pet her head to love on her and she flips my hand away with a head whip and walks away. Jerk, lol. The only time we get to cuddle anymore is when she is tired. She's got more important stuff to do apparently.Unlike Ripley, she wasn't suuuuper loving, just wanted everything on her own terms always.
Yep!Congratulations and best wishes for you both! Reds have a special quality of their own.
Very exciting!!!Yes, you read that right....
As y’all know, I have been toying with this idea for quite some time now. With the girls being close to home, I figure it is now or never.
I just can’t seem to like a quiet, normal life. Always inviting calamity and chaos once everything seems to settle down. Hahaha. But once everything irons out, I truly think it is all going to be worth it
I will be getting a red female from Melrae Doberman’s. The same breeder as JanS and Rits acquired their pups from. I feel quite fortunate to have been pointed in that direction from Rits and JanS and also that they gave the breeder great compliments about Ragnar and I. I believe the breeder could have placed these pups easily but she offered one to me based off of their recommendations. Thank you very much ladies!!
Don’t know too much on the pup except for she has two reds and a black from the litter. The one black is going to the studs owner and the breeder is trying to decide which one of the two females to keep for a show home. I believe they are 7weeks and will be cropped pretty soon. I told Melissa (breeder) that I am not in a hurry, we are in the peak of soccer season right now and pretty busy. But, I made sure to communicate that I am not turning her away, the pup will most definitely be priority.
I really like that this one will be NA/SA and I like the burgundy color and markings of JanS Doberman Phoebe. When I asked Melissa, she said this litter of reds will be a lot like Phoebe. Although I would love to have a NA red that matched Ragnars physique and shape, SA Dobermans have always caught my eye. So this is going to be very interesting.
I do not have any pictures of the two up for selection but she says she will send some soon.
So there you have it, I finally jumped on the wagon....lol, I apologized to the wife for what was about to happen for the next 15months. I just hope it’s not as crazy as what Ragnar did to us. That asshat turned us upside down for awhile. Maybe not, I think I am somewhat Doberman wiser now.
Oh, I thought she was a lovey-dovey with the lap photos I've seen. Asha never went down willingly, so the couch was off limits - she just got crazy when tired, so her bed on the floor or the crate were the only options. At 10 months I finally let her on my bed but only in the afternoon if I laid down to read for an hour or so. She was crazy for a few minutes but by then I could command lay down. She learned if she didn't the privilege ended. So now she'll lean on my legs and sleep while I read and actually be still.I get sort of offended when Ripley doesn't want me to pet her. Keyword "was" The girl has grown up apparently and went straight to drama teen. Like a cat, she chooses when she wants to be near. I've yet to have her lean on me. It feels so strange to have a dog not want to be petted. And even then when she tells me she wants on the couch, it might be psycho Imma bite the air in your direction or slap you. You know cause she gets that "look" in her eyes. Then yes, kicked off the couch or put in bed in the kennel. In the morning when she's still tired or at night are the few times she settles and there's a few couch kicks before then. I think she catches on that that behavior gets her kicked off. I certainly know she's not anywhere as sharp in temperament as Asha since she was not bred for it but energy wise? On par with an energetic NA dobe like Ragnar.Oh, I thought she was a lovey-dovey with the lap photos I've seen. I think we all worry about that until the pup gets home but that worry goes away pretty quickly once they start their Doberman interaction. Of course we're careful but you should see these two carry on now.Guess I am really worried on how Ragnar is going to react.
