An adoption journey....

Aww he's settling in so nicely and the new parents look so happy! I really do wish they'd join here to be a part of the community, whether they decide to post (the ears) or not.

Trust me, I’m working hard on this.
She’s not a forum person, I know that but I’ve thrown it out there! Plenty of support here.

My good friend Nat from West Country Dobermann rescue is on the case, too.

Oh, he wants to engage with Tara so bad and she's being sort of aloof! :wacky: Looks like some wonderful walking areas! The two should become great friends!

I’m picking up supplies tomorrow! (Just in case!) Do you think she’d be pissy if I posted him whilst she was at work?! :ninja: :thumbsup:

*EDIT* To be fair she bought up the subject this morning on our walk together with the dogs. One of the rescue ladies that helps out the dogs in Hungary sent her a private message (outside of the group chat!) saying that she should go ahead with the posting!!

Is it possible she may be a bit overwhelmed by the idea of getting the posts set and then the work that it takes to keep working with them?

In all the years we've had dobes we have only had one pup we got thru the posting phase and I do recall it was a lot of work and worry.

Hm, I’m not really sure. I’ve even offered to do it myself! I was thinking about doing a quick tutorial on Tara (straight up, then down) to show her.....I’ve never posted before, either.

That's great news and he looks like he has a pretty easy crop to get to stand, not to mention they're half way up already. I'm sure you'll do a great job in showing them how after reading a million posts here on the subject. ;)

Oh ya that’s right, you’ve never posted before either! Definitely practice on Tara first, her ears are so long that she was probably posted for a long time, she might even recognize the supplies haha.

It's been 3 days! We need an update! Hahahaha! I'm betting everyone is T.I.R.E.D.

That’s because the last 3 days I’ve spent my time trying to convince her to post. I bought all the materials but I’m not getting any further forward with her :( Frustrated would be an understatement! I’m convinced she’s set on him being cropped but flopped. Personally, I think she’s making a huge mistake but I’m seriously banging my head against the wall here, guys!

Besides the whole debate on his ear posting I can’t praise them enough for being responsible parents to his daily needs. They have a routine of exercise, mental stimulation, nap times, feeding and training in place.
He was having a few accidents in the house so now they keep a pee/poop diary. It’s really helped.
He’s crated whilst they eat.
He’s allowed on the sofa as long as he’s invited up. If he’s a dick he’s told ‘Off.’
He’s learnt sit and is currently learning down.
We’ve been on soooo many muddy walks. Lol He’s literally lagged in mud when we get back. He was introduced slowly to the shower and will quite happily sit on his butt and get washed off.
He sleeps in his crate by night (an absolute dream in there) the first few nights he slept from roughly 10-2 (out for a wee) then 2-6.
Two nights ago he slept from 10.30-6.30. Such a good boy.
He’s been to busy walking spots where he’s learning to focus on them. He’s been to the groomers and hopefully off to the beach in the next day or so.

While I agree he should be posted, I can understand her not wanting to do it. I would think it would be a challenge to post a pup in a country where cropping is illegal. I can't even imagine the comments she would get. Even here where cropping is legal you still get some pretty nasty comments especially while the pup is being posted. I think a natural dobe is still beautiful, I will always prefer cropped, docked and posted til standing.
I read an article posted on FB the other day that said illegal c/d was on the rise in the UK. Going on memory here but I think it has increased by 157%. Now that is wrong! I have no doubt that because it is illegal it is done in all the ways that led to it being illegal. :( Hack jobs done with no anesthesia in a back room somewhere.

Omigod, that's horrible!

Frustrating, I'm sure. But don't cause a family feud over it. Although, I can't help but be curious as to why? Is it the stigma attached to it? Or does she just does not want to post herself? Or maybe she just likes how it looks? The way his Bell is half standing already, maybe he'll be a little bit like Kali.
20191101_080457.jpg They may even stand by themselves. I wonder if breath right strips alone would do it. I remember when I first got Kali, they were droopier (more towards the bell) than they are now. When I would sit with her, I would run my fingers through her ears, gently pulling them up. I don't know if that helped or not but they are a bit more erect than that first day. :)

He was introduced slowly to the shower and will quite happily sit on his butt and get washed off.
Perfect! Do they have a hand held head in there? I purposely added an extra handheld one in ours for the dog when we built this house! An extra long 'cord' to get around him too without having to move him. :) Its very handy to just walk him in there. :thumbsup2:

So handsome!

shucks... was hoping for better news on the posting front. @MyBuddy might be right... test out some stiff breathe right strips just to see? He's obviously a little cutie but he would be stunning with standing ears as an adult. It looks like the crop has a nice shape from his sleeping picture.

What kind of nicknames does he have already? For some reason, the only thing I come up with for "Titan" is 'Titty'

. I can't even imagine the comments she would get

She’s already been berated for this tail docking :( She really needs to grow thicker skin, she’s pretty sensitive at the best of times BUT she’s young and not use to these situations either. She’ll have to learn to dust herself off and not take it so personally.

I think it’s a mixture of all. I told her I would post every 3-5 days to take that pressure off but that made no difference whatsoever.
She seems pretty set.
One ear flops pretty good but the other OMG....it’s driving me mad. Lol maybe breathe right strips would be an idea.

Do they have a hand held head in there?

Yes, it’s awesome! :)
