Leash Pulling at an all-time high

My 1 year old never quite pulled me on her leash until about maybe a few months ago. I’ve tried EVERY harness/collar/face training lead & absolutely nothing works. The face training lead was the most effective, but once she got used to it it no longer served its purpose.
I have also tried bringing training treats on walks with me as a distraction, but she doesn’t even pay them any attention while we’re outside. She’s extremely distracted while on walks & doesn’t even listen to commands. It’s to the point that I dread walking her because she pulls me so bad.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

What other training have you done with your girl? Is she used to any structured training sessions?

Look up the Koehler Method of Dog Training. Dobermans are usually extreme pullers. The book saved my sanity and changed my life. I found it in the library.

Ugh the dreaded pulling! It’s an unnecessarily long journey to fixing this problem if you don’t stop it early on and it will get worse as she gets stronger. Since you tried so many things, I bet the problem is the training technique. You need to find a trainer that is not positive-only - try finding someone with working dog experience. They use positive techniques too, but they are capable of adjusting their ways to the dog based on what they see. Solid training will stick, all else will just be a waste of money.

Just a suggestion. Youtube has many video tutorials on both the fitting and use of prong collars. Watching a good selection will give you an indication of whether you have been using one to the best advantage. One thing I did find was that it was important to make sure it was in the position immediately behind the ears, which meant continually moving it up. If it slipped down the neck it was only half as effective. Don't give up, you will find a solution.

Yes she’s had two & will still pull. Choking and all. Smh

If this is happening, then you are not using the prong collar correctly. Problem here is that now she is prob acclimated to the pinch and will be difficult to get her to respond. Need a trainer.

She’s extremely distracted while on walks & doesn’t even listen to commands.

This is part of your problem also- she has to understand that you are in control and she is to listen to your cues. You are suppose to be walking her and not her walking you.

I know....easier said than done. It took mine at least until 12-15months before he finally stopped pulling and this finally ended when I started lifting his front quarters off the ground by the leash to prong collar. Harsh? Yes, pretty harsh it was but it got an immediate response and his attention was on me. But again, she has to understand what she is doing wrong before you go to that kind of correction otherwise you are creating a fear of you.

You really should prob revisit the trainer.

Good luck.
